Simpson s music rooms were filled to
their utmost capacity by an apprecia
tive audience of parents and friends of
her pupils who assembled to note the
advancement of her muslo scholars

get seats.

because more lessons had been taken.

parable, and we bespeak for her an

ment in ner noble endeavors to ad

Her work has been done so quietly
that but few have ever heard of it, yet
we feel proud to say that few cities of
equal number of Inhabitants can offer
such a rare chance to gain a musical
educatiou as we enjoy right here at
home every day, and many go away
from home at large expense and with
out obtaining the facilities Mrs, Simp
son offers.

Lust evening ooe of the largest ses
sions in numbers that the board of
trade has ever held was held in their
rooms iu D. II. Wheeler Co's office,
to take steps to secure the diagonal
road for Plattamouth. The largo at
tendance was in testimony to the fact
that the business men of Plattsmouth
are in dead earnest ju this matter,
and that the Herald's woik in bring
ing the diagonal before the people, is
appreciated. The speeches made were
not numerous, but the assurance is
out from every individual present
that every man of them stands ready
to do his part to secure the road.
The meeting was called to order by
President Carruth, who stated the ob
ject of the meeting under special call
to be, to discuss wave and moans of
securing additional railroad facilities
for Plattsmouth, and especially
lake liiiiueuiaio action toward secur
ing tho diagonal road which now is
in course of construction across Iowa.
The matter was brought before the
board directly by a motion submit
leu uy Mr. vv inuuaiii: mat a com
mittee of three be appointed to con
fer at once with the diagonal road
through Mr, Wojstoo, to ascertain the
time aud place that a conference can
beheld regarding the road coming to
Plattsmouth. The motion was car
ried by a hearty vote, which, spoke
the interest all present had in the
work. The president then named It.

E. Palmer as - said committee, after

carried unauiinously, that the presi
dent oft he board, Mayor Webkbach
and A. W. McLaughlin be added to
the committee.

to organizing a railroad company
from riattpinouth southwest, the aid
that could be given thJ diagonal, and

The new college building on ground
owned by the college association, lias
been completed, and provides ample
