Election of officers was held with Mrs. Black more being re-elected as president. Other officers are Mrs. Vern Sageser, vice presi den and Mrs. Milton Clemens, secretary and treasurer. After the business meeting Mrs. Vern Sag eser gave a report on the meet ing in Grand Island. Mrs. Tenus Madsen then gave a report on her trip to the World’s Fair. The October meeting will be with Mrs. Milton Clemens. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Black more went to LeMars, la., Sun day, September 23 to attend the wedding of his niece, Miss De lores Pausch. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Burge went to Omaha Tuesday to be with Clyde’s sister, June Burge, O’ Neill, who was seriously ill and taken to the hospital there. She was brought home again later in the week and passed away Sat urday, Sept. 29. Funeral services were in O’Neill Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fisher went to Covington, Okla., last weekend to spend a few days with their son-in-law and daughter, the Rev. and Mrs. Lynn Myers, Timmie and Sharon. Bud Clemens did chores for them while they were away. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Berry were painting the house at Black mores last week. Mrs. Effie Withers is home again after visiting her sons, George Chapman and family, Lin ton, N. D., Paul Chapman and wife, Rapid City, S. D. and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Douglas Chapman and family, Mobridge, 9. D. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Chap man brought her home Wednes day and Paul was busy building a new fence around the yard while here. They will go to Fairmont early this week to vis:! her sis ter. Mrs. Charles Bligh, Alliance, came Wednesday and will visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank , Pierce a week or so. Beth Fullerton is home this week from Kansas City where she attends school. She also visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Matthews in Lin coln a few days before returning home. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Barnet; re turned home Saturday from a ten day visit with her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ad-t ams at their home in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Adams brought them home returning to Lincoln Sun day afternoon. Mrs. Charles Bligh and Mrs Frank Pierce wen; to Omaha Fri day to get Mrs. Dick (Raedee> Bran and bring her to the Pierce home for a week’s visit. They re turned home Sunday is time to help Frank Pierce celebrate his Mth birthday anniversary. Mr Bligh was also present for the oc casion. Mr. and Mrs. Bub Bailey, Om aha and Venita White. The Whites also expect to attend the Fair while visiting there. Mrs. May Sageser has been suf fering with an injured knee she received when a “too friendly" dog jumped on her, knocking her down as she was walking to her home from the home of her son, Vera. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Backhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Boshart and two grandsons, Lester Boshart and Mrs. Cora Thomson were dinner guests Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Lew Backhaus. Mrs. Edith Andersen accom panied Mrs. Esther Wood to O' Neill Friday afternoon. The funeral of Lester Thomp son wit* held at the Assembly of God church in Burwell Tuesday, Sept. 25, with Interment in the Burwell cemetery. Mrs . Harold is a freshman in the Atkinson high school. He be came ill Thursday and his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Ken nedy, brought him home that day and then rushed him back to the hospital during the night. Connie Beckwith, Page, came home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Blackmore from Atkinson Saturday evening. They took her home Sunday. They also helped their other little granddaughter, Jo Beckwith, ce lebrate her birthday. Joyce Watson, Omaha, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Asa Watson and Sharon. They had attended Ak-Sar-Ben. The girls both entered calves in the show. Mrs. George Fullerton went to Fremont Thursday, being called there by the illness of her daugh ter, Mrs. Gene (Phillis) Skala. She was suffering a bad attack of asthma. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Waldo en joyed a visit from their grand daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Vore, Beulah, Wyo.
