perty on this date must make out an assessment schedule. This
includes people who are under 21 that have household goods or
other personal property. The law places the responsibility on the
taxpayers to list their property. New Improvements on real estate
are to be ic|>ortcd at this time. Property of minor children, in

administrator. The law provided a 50% penalty on valuation of
tangible property for failure or refusal to list.

men) must be assessed for head tax.
There have been two important changes in the law for 1962.
rite law requires everyone who owns a cabin trailer that has
been in the county 30 days or over to get a permit without ex
ception. Taxis* on cabin trailers must be paid before a permit
can be issued. If you own a cabin trailer and did not receive a
tax statement, please stop at the Assessor’s office and get a tax
statement before going to the Treasurer’s office for the permit.
We will be mailing out Motor Vehicle statements before
January 1st. If your statement Is not the same as the registration
on your car or if you have moved or traded ears since the last
registration please come to the Assessor’s office and get a new
tax statement.
A new law was passed pro\1ding for penalties on Intangible
class of property. There are two classes of Intangible property,
“A” and “B”. Class “A” is money, accounts receivable, postal
savings, and most any kind of cash or checks. The tax on this
class is $2.50 per $1000.00.
Intangible "B” class Ls Stock and Share in corporations. In
vestment Co., tax sale certificates, bonds (except U. S. Savings
Bonds), notes (except notes secured by mortgages on Nebraska
real estate). Building and Loan (full amount if located outside of
Nebraska, a percent in some companies located in Nebraska),
annuity's and royalties and etc. The tax on this class Is $4.00
per $1000.00. The penalty for not reporting Intangible property is
five (5) times the amount of tax. If the tax was $100.00 and not
reported, the penalty would be $500-00 plus the original. The
law also applies to estates.
Assistant Assessors will be on hand in the different precincts
