The Thank Offering service,
held annually at the United Pres
byterian church, was conducted
Sunday during the worship hour,
sponsored by the Women's Mis
sionary society. The guest
speaker was Martha Temple, a
registered nurse and medical
missionary from Cameroun, West
Africa. Her description of the
people and their environment in
dicated the need of teaching
health and sanitation in their
homes. Ina Bennett conducted the
service assisted by Mrs. Ralph
Shrader, Mrs. Willie Shrader,
Mrs Wayne Shrader and Mrs.
Ora Switzer. The collection of
$144 was taken by Mrs Lionel
Gunter, Mrs Williert Napier,
Mrs Ralph Shrader and Mrs.
Willie Shrader. A special musical
selection was given by a choir
composed of members of the
Society. Mrs. Wilbur Bennett was |
the pianist- Following the service!
a covered dish dinner was served I
in the annex to the large con- [
gregation Miss Temple had a
numlier of articles on display
from West Africa. She also an-i
swered questions. She was a
weekend guest at the home of Ina
Bennett.
The Rev. Mrs. Nina Haines and
Mrs. Ednn Lofquest left Monday
morning for Crawford where they
visited friends until Wednesday.

guest of his parents, the Rev.
and Mrs. I>>ster Spragg, Sun
clay.
The MYF group of the Ewing
Methodist church attended a dis
trict rally at Spencer Sunday af
ternoon. The theme of the meet
ing was "Stewardship.” The Ew
ing group were in charge of the
closing devotionals. In atten
dance from Ewing were Jane and
Rose Lynn Spragg, Marie Davis,
Robert and Karen Woeppel and

club of Ewing were guests of the
losers at the Steak house in O’
Neill Wednesday evening for a
7 p.m. dinner. A short business
meeting was held following the
dinner with Mrs. Louise Anthony
presiding.

end guests at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Irvin Cloyd.

was held Sunday at the home of j

ing. Everyone arrived with well
filled baskets for the noon meal.

Mike Thramer spent the weekend
at the Bob Walnofer home while
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark
Thramer were deer hunting in
Wyoming.

from California are guests at the
home of Mrs. Mabel Boies. They
also called at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. James Boies and fami

The foundation is being laid I
for the Dick Wright house on the
lot south of the William Spence |
residence recently purchased by
Mr. and Mrs. Anton Shavlik.
Plans are lieini? made to tiep-an
building the house the last of this
week. That makes the third new
house under construction in Ew
ing at the present time. Dick is
employed by the Pollock Gravel
Company. Ewing.
The Women's Society of
Christian Service served a dinner
and lunch for the relatives and
friends of the family of Mrs. S. E.
Borden. Washington, D. C., whose
funeral was held Sunday at the
Methodist church.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Rockey
transacted business in Omaha a
few days of last week.
