A Poem From Mrs. Eby.. • —JUST LIFE— When the shadows begin to leng then around our cottage doors, And the bird notes come in whis pers that were shrill an hour before, And the lazy chirp of the cricket and the night hawk swooping low, It’s then in the quiet twilight that our thoughts will go and go. Perhaps little memories of child hood remain, that thrill with de light at Mother’s knee again, Maybe when we could go bare foot or make lovely May-bask ets too, Always romping and free as you and I used to do, And then came school and col lege days so happy as we look back, Always struggling to make good grades and keep ahead of the pack, Then growing up in all our ways till we reach the happy place, When we hear on the air, “Here comes the bride” off lovely or gans played, And now we look forward to church ladies breakfast in sight 9o we’re all dolled up this morn ing and everything looks just right, So here we are from every church, with our mouths just full of talk, And our tummys so empty, we just can hardly walk. So we just want to lend a little light, r; To shine on the way if its a dark some day, to dispel the gloom when its right, It’s often a kind word spoken or a tender loving smile, That may brighten a heart or banish a hurt or bitter anquish bequile, i. . : The clock of time is wound but once and no man has the pow er, ■ ' To tell us when the hands will stop at late or early hour, Now is the only time we own, so love and live with a steadfast will, Don’t depend on tommorow for who knows the clock may then be still, That’s life.
