Stuart News By .Mrs. Herb Skala Karl Bernts Buy Motel At Plainview Mr. and Mrs. Karl Bernt have purchased the Plains Motel in Plainview from Mr. and Mrs. El mer Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Mit chell have purchased the Bemt home in Stuart and both parties will take possession April 29. The Brownie Scout meeting was called to order Wednesday by President Connie Babl. Colors were advanced by Diane Schaal and Sally Hytrek. Pledge of al legiance was given and roll call answered with the Brownie Pro mise. Sally Hytrek served and Barbara Wallinger will serve next meeting. Mrs. G. D. Doughty and daugh ter of Baton Rouge, La., arrived April 11 to visit her mother, Mrs. Minnie Potter and other relatives. Mrs. Willard Schowalter and children of Wichita, Kan., spent April 17 and 18 visiting her mo ther, Mrs. Claire Cadwallader and other relatives. Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Slachetka were Mr. and Mrs. Don Cadwallader and family of Bassett and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Cadwallader and fam ily. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Batenhorst and family were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Flynn and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Batenhorst and Mike, Joe Batenhorst and John Hirsch. Mr. and Mrs. I)lck Flynn and family of Omaha brought Ro bert Batenhorst to his home Friday after he bad spent the past six weeks at St. .Joseph’s hospital. They were weekend guests in the Robert Batenhorst home. Mrs. Donald bkrrtla was hos tess to 13 members of the Hay dettes Extension club Thursday evening. Roll call was answered by naming a house cleaning hint. Mrs. Frank Murphy gave a report on the Childrens Clothing Work shop which was held in O’Neil] April 11. After a social hour, lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Skrdla entertained the club mem bers and their husbands at a card party Sunday evening. Donna Stoolman of Carroll, la., and Karen Thury of Parkston, S. D. accompanied Janette Jar dee and Connie Coufal of Omaha home for the weekend. Sunday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Greenfield were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Greenfield of Bassett, Mrs. Stan Cobb and Ethel Stracke. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Greenfield and Mrs. Laurence Grermfield of Newport drove to O’Neill Monday to get Doris Connell of Omaha. She returned to Omaha Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Butler and boys had as Sunday supper guests Mr. and Mrs. Warded Al exander and Linda and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schrader and family of Alliance. Mrs. Edwin Engler spent Fri day afternoon visiting Mrs. John Schmit at O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Farr were Sunday afternoon visitors in the Olson and John Hasch homes at Newport. Mr. and Mrs. John Friedel went to Gram! Island Friday. Mrs. Friedel stayed with Mrs. Danny Flannigan and children. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kasiper Harley were Mr. ad Mrs. Don McClellan of O’ Neill and Mi', and Mrs. William Serck of Emmet. Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Clara Baum and sons were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dinslage and family of Elgin. Celia News Mrs. Merrill Anderson "Grandpa" Blow Is Improved "Grandpa Blow,” 86, father of Mrs. Charles Phipps, who under went surgery Thursday at the Atkinson Memorial hospital, is improving satisfactory and will soon be dismissed from the hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. John Sicheneder entertained at dinner Sunday her mother, Mrs. Feme Morsett of Royal, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Therber of Orchard, Mrs. Siche neder’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Baier of Greeley, Colo. The occasion honored the birthday of Mr. and Mrs. Sicheneder’s son, Dale, who was two-years-old Friday and the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Therber. Mrs. Sicheneder baked and decorated cakes for both occasions. After noon callers and supper guests at the Sicheneder home were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ziska and fami ly of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Ziska showed some movie pictures which they had taken. Mr. and Mrs. Denton Colfack of Bristow were Sunday supper guests at the home of Denton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Col fack. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Colfack and son, Dennis, visited her sister, Mrs. Curtis Ellwanger and fami ly, at Butte Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Frickel attended the play "Smilin’ Through” presented Friday night by the Presbyterians Mariners. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Frickel, Rodney, Beverly and Bethene and Connie Frickel and son, Kurt, went to Bassett Thursday. Victor, Connie, Kurt and Rodney attended the track meet and Mrs. Frickel, Beverly and Bethene vi sited Mrs. Joe Albrecht at the Rest Home. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coleman were dinner guests Friday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Victor Frickel and family. Little Bethene accompanied her grand parents home. Mrs. Frickel and Beverly and Rodney went to O’ Neill in the afternoon. Ray Elder, who is doing some carpentering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman, was a dinner guest of the Hoffmans Saturday. Maryetta Heiser of Norfolk spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Heiser. Garry Hoffman was an over night guest Thursday with the Victor Frickel children. Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman took the l>oys Friday to register for base ball this summer. Garry will play on the Litte League team and Roger on the Pony League. Victor Frickel helped Jim Lauridsen with cattle Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Frickel of Lincoln visited over the week end at the Lawrence Pacha and Connie Frickel homes. They re turned to Lincoln Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ernst and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendricks of Manhattan, Kans., arrived Wed nesday to spend a few days visit ing at the Robert and Mark Hen dricks homes, also with relatives and friends in the O’Neill area. They returned to Manhattan Sun day. Supper guests Wednesday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Connie Frickel were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hendricks and fami ly and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hend ricks and son Arlin. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Anderson were business callers at Bassett Thursday. Harold and Garold Frickel hauled hay Saturday for Dorothy Scott, from Jim Lauridsens. Friday evening supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klinger in Atkinson were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hendricks and Arlin, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hendricks and family and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendricks of Man hattan, Kans. Omer Poynts and Johnny House of Stuart called at the Mark Hendricks home Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ernst, Mrs. Leon Hendricks and child ren and Mrs. Robert Hendricks and son, Ricky, were dinner guests Friday at the Sam Robert son home at O’Neill. Mrs. Gerhardt Mommsen and daughters called at the Alex Frickel home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. August Troshyn ski and son, Francis, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kilmurry and family Sunday eve ning._ Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kilmurry and family were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Kilmurry in Atkinson Sunday. Mr. Kilmurry’s brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Allard of ilapid City, S. D., were also dinner guests at the Pat Kilmurry home. Mr. and Mrs. Allard returned home Monday morning. Dorothy Scott was dismissed from the Atkinson Memorial hos- - pital Saturday and will spend a - few days with her mother, Mrs. Alida Scott in Atkinson, while convalescing from recent sur gery. Dorothy’s sister, Mrs. Charles Dobias, is attending to chores at the ranch. Mr. and Mrs. John Schwindt and family visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Mc Kathnie Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Schwindt visited at the Neal Ratliff home in Bassett Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Benton Mellor and family of Austin, Ark., were overnight guests Tuesday at the home of Mr. Mellor’s sister, Mrs. I.eonard Chaffin and family. Itobcrt Hendricks and Italph Krnsl attended to chores Sat urday evening for Mr. ami Mrs. Merrill Anderson while they attended the funeral of Mr. Anderson’s father at Bas sett Saturday morning.
