Mrs. Charles Curtright III liter 5-3290 Merle Elston of Madison, Wise, and Mrs. Marie Otis were visit ing in Clearwater last week an route to Kearney to visit in the Gordon Elston home, where an Elston family reunion is to be held. Rufus Bennett of Neligh was in town Saturday renewing acquain tances and looking after his home on the east side of main street. Word was received here of the death of Mrs. Francis Sonnen felt of Puyallup, Wash. The Son nenfelts lived here before going to Washington. She will be re membered as Nina Mae. She is a daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sonnenfelt now of Oakdale. The deceased was in tier early thirties and is survived by her husband and 5 small children. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Einsphar of Payette, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Anderson of Casper, Wyo., were visiting relatives here over the weekend. Elais Stevens (Lyle) died Sun day afternoon in the Tilden hos pital. He was taken there on Saturday morning. He was 75 years of age. Surviving are his widow Elizabeth and two step children. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 15, at the Methodist church. The annual World day of Prayer will be held Friday, February 17th at the Reorgan ized church of the Latter Day Saints at 2 p.m. The Methodist church and Church of Christ will take part also and the pub lic is invited to attend. Ronnie Lau, a former resident, received his Bachelor of Science degree at Wayne college and has accepted a teaching position in the North Platte schools. Emil Ahlers placed the top bid of $160 per acre when the land known as the Frank Hammon farm south of town sold Monday. Mr. Ahlers purchased 160 acres and Tyler McKillip bought 160 of hay meadow at $57 per acre. William DeCamp was able to return to his home from An telope Memorial hospital and is resting at his home here. Mr. DeCamp quietly observed his 85th birthday anniversary Sat urday. Mrs. Marcus DeCamp is spending this week here look ing after the elder DeCamps. Kathy Minerich, 20 month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Minerich, is a patient in Ante lope Memorial hospital. Kathy’s mother has been in the same hos pital since the first of the year and her condition is much im proved. Mrs. Henry Schlecht fell at her home Saturday and dislocated her shoulder. She is being treated in the Tilden hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Emery Carey en tertained at a dinner party Fri day evening in their home. Guests were, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Switzer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Twiss and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Curtright. j A good crowd turned out for the benefit dance sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce Friday night at the Summerland pavilion near Ewing. Mrs. Kenneth Johnson has been appointed as the local chairman for the heart fund campaign un deway this week. Shirley Tinsley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tinsley, was one of a group of 52 nurses capp ed at exercises held Friday in Omaha in the First Methodist church at 8 p.m. An afternoon tea was held at the Methodist nurses home at 2 p.m. for the parents. Edna A. Fagan, director of nursing, presented the class at the evening program. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Tinsley attended the days activities. Last Week’s News William Luben one of Clear water’s senior citizens, celebrat ed his 82nd birthday 9atarday. A family gathering was held Sun- i day in his honor at the Charles Curtright home. Mr. Luben was born in Appleton, Wise., and came to Nebraska when he was five years of age. He leads an active life and is in comparatively good health. Fishing is his number one hobby. He enjoys dressing poultry and wild game; also likes playing cards, television and his collection of records. He has six children, two sons and four daughters, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A family gathering was held in his honor Sunday at the Charles Curtright home. Present were Mr, and Mrs. Howard Luben and Don, Lorraine Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Brittell and Larry James, Bernard Laben and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jacobsen. Mr. Jacobsen’s birthday is the same day as Mr Luben’s ! Mr and Mrs. M. H. “Whiff” Snider of Mindien visited here Thursday of last week. Pleasant Dale Home Extension club met February 1 with Mrs. Lloyd Bearinger. Eight members and one visitor answered roll call. Mrs. Dave Schwager, pres ident, presided. The meeting op ened with group singing and Mrs. ji Lloyd Bearinger led the group. IS Mrs. Herbert Spahn read the E minutes of the last meeting and H gave the treasurer report. Year ■ books were filled out by the club B members. A new member, Mrs. Roy Tubbs, was welcomed into the club. Following adjournment the lesson of the afternoon, “Create Your Owi Business Cen ter” was given by Mrs. Spahn and Mrs. Harold Bearinger. Next meeting will be March 1 with Mrs. Harold Jones. Relatives here have received j word of the death of a former I resident, Lloyd Blessman, at Aloha, Ore., that had been his i home for several years. “Fat” as he was known here made his home with the Ed Luben i family, being a brother of Mrs. Luben.
