There was no school at Deloit Monday because of the blizzard, the first of the season. Mr and Mrs Fred Harpster and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reimer were supper g tests Tuesday eve ning at the Glenn Harpster home in honor of Glenn's birthday an niversary. Mr and Mrs. Carl Bartak cal led Wednesday evening at the L. L. Bartak home. They were en route to their home in West Point after visiting their daugh ter and family in Wyoming. Mr and Mrs Bill Gibbs were Friday visitors in Norfolk Their children spent Friday night at the L L. Bart ah home. Ferdnand Hupp is a patient in a Norfolk hospital. Mrs G. A. Bauer visited at the Otto Kaihoif borne Saturday. A 4-H meeting was held Sunday at the St. John church basement Mr and Mrs. Henry Renner spent Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Don Stans and Eliza beth in West Point. Mr and Mrs. Gary Moon of Neligh spent the weekend at the Watson McDonald home. Mr and Mrs. Richard McDonald and fam ily were Sunday guests Fifty-one hundredth of an inch of rain was reported in this area Sunday. Ewing News By Mrs. Harold Harris Mothers interested in the or ganization of Cub Scouts in Ew ing met Friday afternoon at the Merlyn Meyer home. Jerry Dem psey, Sand Hill district repre sentative from O'Neill, was in charge. After some discussion, it was decided to have an organi zation meeting early in January. Present, with children, were Mrs Richard Shain, Mrs. Jerey Roth erham, Mrs. James Boies, Mrs Darlene Bowling. Mrs. Clifford Hahlbeek, Mrs Sam Regan and Mrs. Dean Pofahl. Mr. and Mrs. Merlyn Meyer and family were Sunday evening guests at the home of Mr and Mrs. Don Gabelman at Neligh. Other guests at the Gabelman home were Mr and Mr* Richard Anderson of Aurora Mr and Mrs. Grover Shaw and family moved to Ainsworth Satur day, where they will make their future home, Mr Shaw will op erate a milk route. Mr Shaw has had a milk route in Ewing for several months which was taken over by Jack Kropp. Mr and Mr* Leonard Knapp attended the wedding of Ed Pier son and Miss Betty Fetrow, held Sunday tn O'Neill. The bride groom is a nephew of Mr. Knapp. Party Well Attended A good crowd was in attendance at the card party Sunday even ing held at St. Dominic's hall, sp nsored by the St. Rose circle of the Christian mothers Win ners in pitch were Dwight Schroe der, Mrs. Eva Kaczor. Martin VanConet and Mrs. Louis Van dersnick. In pinochle, the winners were Paul Funk, Mrs Gail Botes, Melvin Roach and Mrs. Leonard Knapp The door prize was won by Victor Funk. Refreshments were served. Mr and Mrs Richard Edwards and family of Bassett were after noon and dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ham ilton Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Pollock took his mother, Mrs. Fern Pollock, to Omaha Monday. From there she left for California, where she will spend the winter months with relatives. Dr and Mrs. Leo Spittler and family of Norfolk were S-inday dinner guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Laura Spittler. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Butler re turned home Friday from Fort Benning, Ga. where they had spent the past two weeks visiting at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Lt. Col. and Mrs. E. D. McDonald and family. Among those attending turkey dinner and bazaar at Orchard Friday evening were Mr and Mrs. Gail Boies, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Sojka, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ru by, Mrs. Rose Bauer and Ca therine, Mr. and Mrs Dave Burk and family, Mrs Willis Rockey and family and her mother, Mrs. Louis Pofahl. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Funk and daughter, Lori Lee, accompanied by Mrs. Laura Spittler, spent No vember 27 at Valentine visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Spittler and family. Others present at the Lofquest home were Mr. and Mrs Reuben Meyer and family of Neligh and Mr and Mrs. Mer lyn Meyer and sen of Ewing Mrs Edna Lofquest accompan ied by her aunt, Mrs. Lillie Mey ers of Clearwater, spent Sunday at Albion visiting with Mr and Mrs. Eld Brophy and Mrs Violet Hodge. Overnight guests at the h me of Mrs. Edna Lofquest Saturday were her grandchildren, Jaruce, Cathy and Mary Jo Lofquest. David Shrader, who came home November 28 from St. Anthony's hospital at O’Neill, was able to re turn to school Monday. He is con valescing from an appendectomy. Baby Shower Held Mrs. Grover Shaw and son, Michael, were honored guests at a baby shower at the home of Mrs. Jerry Tomjack Friday eve ning. Twelve ladies were in at tendance. Cards were played for entertainment. Mrs. Ralph Munn, Mrs. Mamie Boies and Mrs. James Boies received prizes. Mr. and Mrs. James Mlnarik and family, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Don Mackel and son of Elgin, spent Sunday at Gre gory, S. D., visiting with relatives. Ann Regan celebrated her second birthday Monday. In honor of the oocasipn her grand mother, Mrs. Laura Splttler, en tertained at a family gathering Monday evening at her home. Present were Ann’s parents, Air. and Mrs. Sam Regan and sons. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bartak _a t_it.. The Christian Mothers of St. Peters Church served dinner at 9t. Dominic’s hall to about 50 relatives and friends in atten dance at the funeral of Henry Kaczor held November 30. The out-of-town relatives and friends! present were Mr and Mrs. Mark Kaczor of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Micek of Plainview, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Kaczor and family of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nickolite of O’Neill and Mrs. Ed Yelli sr. of Royal. Pallbearers were Frank and John Hawk, Mike and Peter Nickolite, Walt Woep pel and David Burk, all of Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. John Schiffbauer of Norfolk were guests one day last week at the home of their daughter, Mrs. William Hobbs and family. Youngster in Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Dorrence Hobbs took their daughter, Mattie Kay, to the Children Memorial hospital Saturday for observation and care. She was bom November 13. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Hobbs and children were Thanksgiving guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eld Weyhrich on Thanks giving Day.
