Court on June 3 in the case of the
estate of Walter Trussed, de
ceased, D. R Mounts, District
Judge reversed the descision of the
County Court upheld the appeal
of the Executor of said estate an

Receive Degrees
Two commencement exercises
this month, one in Flordia, the ot
her in California were of special
interest to the people of Ewing.
Mrs Catherine Rockey Carlson of
West Palm Beach, Fla. received her
Master’s Degree from the Miami
University in the field of concen
tration and counseling June 9.
Mrs. Carlson graduated with the
class of 19 !> of the Ewing high
school. She attended Wayne 9tate
Teachers College, receiving her
BA degree in 1954 Before moving
to Florida, Mrs. Carlson taught
several years in Orchard and Roy
al, three years in Ewing and one
in a rural school.
Vernon C. Rockey was graduated
from the Los Angeles College of
Optometry. The commencement
and conferring of the defree of
Doctor of Optometry was held Sun
day, June 5, at the University of
Southern California.
Dr. Rockey was also born and
raised in Ewing He graduated
from the Ewing high school with
the class of 1952. He attended Ne

Wayne State Teachers College be
fore enlisting in the Array. After
his discharge he attended Adams
State College before enrolling at
the Los Angeles College of Op
tometry.
He is married and has three
children. They will make their home
at Grand Junction, Colo, where
Dr. Rockey will practice.
Mrs. Carlson and Dr. Rockey are
the brother and sister of Mrs.
Grace Zimmerman and Willis Roc
key both of Ewing. Their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Rockey, were
life long residents of the Ewing
community before moving to Flor
ida some time ago.

Thursday afternoon to visit Mrs.
Munn who is in the hospital.

and Kay returned recently from a
vacation trip through Illinois and
Wisconsin where they visited her

for the evening high-lighted by a
mock wedding for which Miss Ly
don wore a gown fashioned by the
guests of a miscellaneous assort
ment of lace curtains, ruffles and
ribbons complete with a bridal veil
and a huge bouquet. Billie Hubei
was the groom.

Fifty five relatives and frwods
gathered at the parlors at the Ew
ing Methodist church Thursday
evening honoring Mrs Leon Alle
man, the former Carolyn Tams,
for a wedding shower.
Decorations were canned out in
the bridal colors of green and
white with bouquets of garden flow
ers in charge of the flowers were
Patricia Hahlbeck ami Bertha Har
ris.
One of the high lights of the en
tertainment were sketches of pre
dictions of the bride and groom
twenty years later.
The bride was assisted in open
ing gifts by Ardis Parks and Leo
nora Tuttle. Mrs Maryetta Peter
son of Neligh was in charge of the
gift hook. Lunch was served by
Mrs. Clifford Hahlbeck, Mrs H R
Harris. Mrs Harold Parks, Mrs
Archie Tuttle, Mrs C. C Hahl

ARC H DIOCESE MEETS
A meeting of the Omaha Arch
Diocese was held at St. Peter’s
church and St Dominic’s hall Fri
day. Forty-six members were in
attendance. The O’Neill deanery
was the hostess.
Mrs. John McGovern of Omaha
presided at the business session
Two topics of discussion were the
revision of their constitution and
the national convention of the Na
tional Council of Catholic Women,
to be held in September.
Lunch was served at noon by the
Christian mothers and later in the
afternoon, a coffee hour was en
joyed by the group.

Ten dollars was given to the Ew
ing public library for the purchase
of juvenile books by the American
Legion Auxiliary at the regular
meeting held at the Legion club.
The annual election of officers
was held. Re-elected were Mrs.
R H. Shain, president; Mrs. Frank
Hake, vice-president; Mrs. Eula
Eppenbach, secretary and Mrs. Al
fred Napier, treasurer. After a
short business session, the meeting
adjourned for a social hour and
refreshments served by Mrs. Jer
ry Rotherham and Mrs. Shain.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rotherham
family with the exception of their
oldest son, Larry, who spent last
week vacationing in the Ozarks and
Texas, returned home Saturday.

Vacation School Bogins
The Daily Vacation Bible school
for the Ewing Methodist and United
Presbyterain churches will begin
June 20 through June 24. Superin
tendents this year will be Mrs.
Willis Rockey and Mrs. Willie
Shrader. Bertha Harris and Diana
Shrader are secretaries.
Plans have been made for the
nursery, kindergarten and primary
classes to meet at the United
Presbyterain church while the
juniors and junior-highs will meet
in the Methodist church.
The day’s session will began at
9 a m. Monday closing at 3:30 n.m.
A program will be held Sunday
evening, June 26 at 8 p. m.

The Christian Mothers of St. Pet
| er’s Church met Tuesday evening
for prayer and instruction on Mo
dest Dress for Summer and on
“Spiritual Welfare”. Rev. P. F.
Burke gave the address.
Mrs. Doris Sanders presided at
the business session. Plans were
made to serve the lunch for the
meeting of the Omaha Arch Di
ocese. •

Lyle Mitteis and Doris Sanders.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker left
Friday on a vacation trip which
will take them to the west coast,
