Mrs. Asher came Thursday to visit her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Snell, wlio have been ill. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Davis and chi'drcn of Chambers, Mrs, Jerry Cuddy and Mr. and Mrs. Ix>uis Burgett of Amelia were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Ragland. Mrs. Frieda Asher was hostess to the members of the RNA Ken sington Wednesday. Cards furnish ed entertainment. A covered dish lunch was served. The members of the NOK club were afternoon guests of Mrs. Ben Asher Thursday. The time was spent visiting and doing fancy work. Mrs. William Scheinost will entertain the group October 9. Dennis Cunningham went to Wolbach Thursday evening where he joined a friend for the drive back to Ft. Carson, Colo., after a 14-day leave spent with his par ents. Mr. and Mrs LeRoy Cun ningham. He has concluded his eight weeks of basic training. Mrs. R. V. Crumly Tuesday, Septemlier 23, was elected noble grand to complete Mrs. Leo Neu bauer’s unexpired term during the business meeting of Friendship Rebekah lodge Mrs. R. F. Park and Mrs Glenn Harris served re freshments. Mrs. Hester Edmisten was ac companied to North Platte Friday by Bill Jeffrey for a visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ed nusten. Mrs. Edmisten will also visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gerkin Lorence Edmisten, who is home on furlough from Fairbanks, Alaska, is enroute to Ft. Carson, Colo., for the remainder of his enlistment. The trip was made to visit him. The Misses Kathleen Walker, Sharon and Lurarme Crummly, Judy Simmons, and Elizabeth Bean, Eddie Walker, Gary Bowen, Dick Cork, Hugh Troshynski, and Arlie Waring were weekenders in their respective homes. They are students at Wayne State Teachers college. All members of the HOA club except Mrs. Duane Allen were present Tuesday at the home of Mrs Herbert Steinberg. The la dies did their own fancywork while they visited Mrs. Harry VanHorn will be the October 7 hostess. Mrs. Robert Harvey was host ess to 12 members of the Get-To gether club Friday afternoon. Mrs Vernon Beckwith received the door prize. Mr. and Mrs Nor man Saltz will host the club party October 5. Mrs. Benard Kornock will be the October 10 hostess for the regular meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stauffer, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Heiss and Rev. and Mrs. Lisle Mewmaw attend ed the northeast district rally at the O'Neill Methodist church Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stewart, Mrs. Carrie Sterner, Mr. and Mrs. James Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Neubauer and Mr. and Mrs. John Sorensen and twin sons, Lloyd and Floyd, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stewart for a picnic dinner at Pioneer park at | Columbus. --— 3 Persons Hurt at Clearwater Bridge CLEARWATER Three persons were injured, but not seriously, about 10 p.m. Friday in a one-car accident at the US highway 275 bridge one-half mile east of Clear water. The car was driven by John (“Bud") Rodekohr, 26. Battle Creek. With him were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tillotson and Miss Joyce Johnson, 17, also of Battle Creek, all of whom were treated for cuts and bruises at a Clearwa ter doctor's office. Rodekohr es caped injury. They were return ing home from the Battle Creek Ewing football game at Ewing. The car hit the bridge, rolled over on the highway and landed on its wheels in a ditch. The car is a total loss. The accident was investigated hy Sheriff Lawrence Rittscher of Neligh, and State Trooper Darryl Bittinger of Norfolk. The bridge is the same one that was struck a week earlier by a car driven by David Thomas of Council Bluffs, la. Both Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were fatally in jured in that crash. MNO Club Meets to Elect Officers— Mrs. Richard McLain was host ess and Mrs. Harold Williamson was cohostess at the Tuesday, Sep tember 23, meeting of the MNO Extension club held at the form er’s home. Sixteen members were present. Mesdames Melvin Mar cellus and Robert Hill gave the lesson on family life. Officers elected for this year are: Mrs. Leonard Davis, presi dent; Mrs. Melvin Marcellus, vice president Mrs. Laurence Haynes, secretary - treasurer; Mrs. Matt Beha, publicity chairman; Mrs. Joe Tennis, song leader; Mrs. Ar nott Buxton, reading chairman, and Mrs. Rchard McLain, health chairman. Eastern Star Dinner Meeting— Monday, October 6, at 6:30 p. m.. at the Methodist church in Atkinson, O’Neill's Symphony chapter 313, Order of the Eastern Star, will be co-hostesses with the chapters at Atkinson and Stuart at a dinner meeting. Northern Nebraska’s first scheduled commercial air service began Wednesday. North-Nebraska Gets Air Service Local air service came to Neb | raska when Frontier Airines in ! augurated the first flight under the new seven states local service case. Under the case, major Nebraska ! cities, for the first time, will be linked together with commuter i type service. Frontier Airline’s Denver head quarters advised the eastbound flight, leaving Ainsworth at 1:05 p.m. (CST) would pass over O' Neill at 1:35 or 1:40 p.m.. using O’Neill’s omnirange station at Municipal airport as a ■‘fix’’ point. The craft's location will be repor ted immediately by shortwave to | air control at Kansas City, Mo., J and by teletype at Norfolk to J Frontier’s Denver office. Westbound, the planes will pass over O’Neill between 6:40 and '6:45 p.m., on the Norfolk-to-Ains worth leg. Rates to be charged by the air line have been authorized by the State Railway Commission which has jurisdiction of public carriers. Valentine had originally beer left off the northern Frontiei route, but the civil aeronautics board Friday gave its okay. Ser vice to Valentine will not begin immediately. Valentine recently voted 18-thou sand-dollars in bonds for airport improvement. This will be match ed by the state and the federal government will put into the pro ject an amount equal to the com bined amounts put up by city and state. The overall improvements will cost in the neighborhood of ! 70- to 75-thousand-dollars. Dorsey News Lloyd Brady, Albert Carson and Roger Rosenkrans have been out among the Dorsey telephone pat rons getting signers to hook up directly to Lynch. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Millard and daughters spent the weekend at the Harold Osborn home. Several from this community at tended the pancake day which was held in Lynch Saturday. Mrs. H. H. Miles and Linda Kruse of Lincoln spent the week end on the farm near Dorsey. Miss Beverly Carson and Miss Beverly Phillips of Lincoln re turned to their work Sunday after spending the weekend at the Ed ward Carson home. Mr. and MrS. Lee Brady, sr., i visited the Carson sisters Sunday evening. Miss Marlyn Graham spent the weekend with homefolks, return ing to Norfolk Sunday evening. Velden Pinkerman, June Car son and Helen Halstead visited Marlyn Graham Sunday at the T. J. and Howard Graham home. Mrs. Elsie Premzing and Mrs. Maude Suber, old time Holt coun ty residents, are back from Wash ington calling on * relatives and friends. % Winner Woman Sent to Hospital SPENCER—Mrs. Ruby Wilken. 38, of Winner, S. D., suffered ser ious injuries and three other per sons escaped with bruises and cuts in a one-car accident near here about 7 o'clock Friday morning. Mrs. Wilken was driving the car and the mishap occurred at a sharp turn in US highway 81, near the Leo Marx farm home a mile northwest of Spencer. Mrs. Wilken said the sun was in her eyes and she did not see the turn in the road. She suffered frac tures of an arm and ribs, bruises and lacerations about the face when thrown into the steering wheel. About three years ago Danny Kersch. 16, was killed at the same corner in a car crash. Riding with Mrs. Wilken were her eight-year-old son; her moth er, Mrs. James Huggins, 56, Mills boro, S. D., and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Herman Wilkens, 52, Fair fax, S. D. They were enroute to Omaha, where Mrs. Huggins had an appointment with a doctor in the afternoon. The two older women suffered cuts and bruises and the eight year old boy suffered bruises when his head was pushed through the back of the front seat. Leo Marx summoned Marshal Joe Loock. and Mrs. Ruby Wilken was taken to Sacred Heart hospital at Lynch. The others accompanied Marshal Loock to the hospital. IMTED PRESBYTERIAN (Ewing) Dr William H. California Visitors Feted at Dinner EMMET Warren Klinetobe and family of San Diego, Calif., have been spending a week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Klinetobe, at Emmet, and with his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Menkens and family, also at Emmet. Mrs. James Comer of Houston, Tex., spent Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Menkens. Mrs. Comer and Mrs. Menkens are sisters. A family gathering was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Klinetobe, sr. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. War ren Klinetobe and Gwendolyn of San Diego, Calif.; Lonnie Kline tobe of San Diego, who was re cently discharged from the navy; Mr. and Mrs. Max Bahr, plaine and Cindy of Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Tyrrell of Lincoln; Mrs. Lyle Johnson, Linda, Norman, Dennis and Craig of Verdel. Slate Soil, Water Committee Here Dinner Meeting Caps Tour of Area Members of the state soil mid water conservation committee made a tour of Holt county last Thursday and dined here in the evening The state committee had spent the early part of the week touring northcentral Nebraska districts. Districts represented at the Town House dinner included Holt Keya Paha-Brown-Rock, Knox. Antelope, Garfield and Loup. The state committee was creat ed a few years ago by an act of the Nebraska legislature as the of | ficial agency of the state in con i nection with soil and water eon i servation, fUxxi protection and I watershed protection. The committe consists of 11 memliers including five conserva tion district supervisors, who are i elected by supervisors in attend ance at their annual conference; | Dean W. V. Chambers News Rev. Charles Cox, Methodist minister, conducted the 15 minute devotional period over radio stat ion KVHC last week. On Thursday he was called to Rosalie for the funeral of a friend. Rev. Endicott, pastor of the O’Neill Methodist church, supplied for him. Mrs. Cox accompanied her husband to Rosalie. On Friday Reverend Cox also attended a ministers’ meeting at Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Edwards and family of Ord visited his grandmother, Mrs. Valo Edwards, Sunday evening. September 28. Sunday, September 28, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Damme and family were his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Les lie Damme, and two daughters of Clearwater and Russell Oden, who was recently discharged from mil itary service at Ft.
