the mayor. .
Motion by Reynoldson, second
ed by Gleeson that the council
hire J. M. Thorburn, as city en
gineer, to complete the engineer
ing on the paving district 1, for
final approval of the city. Motion

Gleeson that the council approve
the appointment of the mayor of
Raymond Eby, for a two-year
term and John C. Watson to a
three year term on the city park
board. Motion carried.
Motion by Gleeson, seconded
by Reynoldson, that the council
approve the building permits of
O'Neill Production Company and
Elkhom Valley National Farm
Loan association for an office
building of tile and brick located
on south one-half of lots 7 and 8
in Block 14, original town of O
Neill Also building permit for
Alvin A. Ott for house 24x28 feet
to be located on north one-half of
lots 9 and 10 in block 32. Origin

in the North-Central conference
track and field meet at Bassett.
Larsen was clocked at 15.6
three-tenths of a second below the
previous record established four
years ago by Dave Eby.
Larsen’s feat ranked him sixth
in the state in all classes ac
cording to official records of
meets held thus far.
The Valentine Badgers made
hay in the meet, amassing 96*4
points. Stuart Broncos finished
second with over 33.

John Erb Rites
at Lake Wilson
John Erb, 62, native of O’Neill,
died Friday, April 18, in Murray
County (Minn.) hospital where
he had been a patient one week.
He was hospitalized following a
heart attack.
Funeral services were conduc
ted Tuesday, April 22, at the
Methodist church at Lake Wilson,
Minn., where he resided.
He was the son of Jacob and
Fannie Erb and was born Jan
uary 5, 1896, near O'Neill where
he received his education.
On August 7, 1925 he married
Hilda Swanson. They became the
parents of four children.
The family lived on a farm
north of Hadley, Minn., until 1934
when they moved into Hadley.
Mr. Erb began working for the
Minnesota highway department.
In 1937 he was transferred to Red
wood Falls where they resided
until 1929, when they moved to
Lake Wilson.
Survivors include: Widow —
Hilda; sons—Roy of Marshall,
Minn., and Dean of Lake Wilson;
daughters—Mrs. Duane (Arliss)
Helmke of Minneapolis, Minn.,
Mrs. Edward (LaBeta) Kass of
St. Petersberg, Fla.; eight grand
children; sisters—Mrs. Lizzie Os
wald of Hartstown, Pa., and Mrs.
L A. (Catherine) Ott of O’Neill.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, two brothers and one
sister.
Mrs. Ott and her husband and
Mr. and Mrs. George Curran at
ended the funeral.
