Amelia News Miss Leone F i x spent the Thanksgiving vacation with her brother, Gale Fix and family at Scottsbluff. She returned home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fix and son, Rodney, Mrs. Baker and son, Richard, were dinner guests at the Elmer Fix home on Thanks giving day. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fox and family, who live near Midway store were dinner guests Thanks giving at Frank Backhaus’. Mrs. Lindsey and Florence and Mrs. Edith Andersen spent Thursday evening with Mrs. Julia White. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson and Marilyn were supper guests Thanksgiving evening of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Retzlaff have purchased the “Hap” Med calf farm, east of Chambers. They recently sold their place to Mr. and Mrs. Lew Backhaus. Charlie Sigman spent Thanks giving with his daughter and Jamily, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown at Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Andersen and sons, Lloyd and Leslie, of Alda visited over the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Edith An dersen. Mrs. Elsie Doolittle and family spent Thanksgiving at the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Harley in Cham bers. Her mother, Mrs. Dehart, and brother of Logan, la., were other guests. Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle and son, Dale, Mrs. Bob Adair and son, Jerry, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson, and Miss Donna Rae Peterson spent Thanksgiving at South Sioux City with Mr. and j Mrs. Ray Gartner. Mrs. Gartner I is the former Delores Doolittle. Paul Fisher drove to McPher son, Kans., to bring their daugh ters, Elaine and Dorothy, home for the Thanksgiving vacation. Myrtle White and Lois Burge ac companied them and spent the time at their respective homes. They are all students at Central college, McPherson, Kans. Thej returned to school Sunday. I o Gartner-Porter Nuptials Read CHAMBERS—Anna Mae Gart ner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gartner of Chambers, and Charles Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter, sr., of O’ Neill, were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Catholic church in O’Neill Thursday, November 17. Rev. Thomas Hitch performed the ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a grey suit with red accessories. She was at tended by her sister, Mrs. Stan ley Watson. Mr. Watson served as bestman for Mr. Porter. Following the ceremony, a din ner was given by the bride’s par ents at their home for the imme diate families. Mrs. Porter attended Chambers high school. Mr. Porter was grad uated from O’Neill high school and is employed at the Moore Noble Lumber company. They will live in O’Neill. SMA Vocal Students in Monday Recital A recital was given Monday by St. Mary’s vocal students at the academy auditorium. Miss Alvera Ramm is vocal instructor. Mrs. Archie Tuttle Receives Blankets EWING — A surprise birthday party was held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Richard Ed wards. The honored guest was Mrs. Archie Tuttle. Pinochle and pitch were played for amuse ment. Winners of high score re ceived prizes. Mrs. Tuttle was presented a woolen blanket and two sheet blankets as a gift from the group. Mrs. Tuttle recently lost much of her bedding in a fire which destroyed their home. Lunch was served.
