Atkinson Balers
Hit Torrid Pace
No Letup as Eagles
Defeated
The hot Atkinson high school
Balers had too much steam as
they rolled over the O’Neill high
Eagles 66-41, Friday night on the
Atkinson court.
Atkinson jumped to a slim 16
12 first-quarter lead but explod
ed for 23 points the second quar
ter as the Eagles could gather
only 8. The Balers hit 55 percent
of their field goal attempts to
help build their 39-20 halftime
lead.
The Eagles will not be in action
quarter with new fire to out
score Atkinson 12-9 but the
Balers went on to win in the fi
nal quarter.
Atkinson never did cool off,
hitting a 50 percent average on
field goals for the entire game.
Huston led the Atkinson attack
with 25 points—20 of which came
during their torrid first half. He
received help from Dunn and
Small, who added 14 and 13, re
spectively.
Alton was O’Neill’s hustler as
he led the Eagles with 15 points
besides doing a good job re
bounding. Conarro and Strong
also showed great improvement
in their floor play and added
nine and eight points, respective
ly.
Atkinson reserves beat the O’
Neill reserves, 43-17.
The Eagles will be in action
until January 4 when they meet
Burwell here.
