Phone 5—O’Neill Atkinson Balers Hit Torrid Pace No Letup as Eagles Defeated The hot Atkinson high school Balers had too much steam as they rolled over the O’Neill high Eagles 66-41, Friday night on the Atkinson court. Atkinson jumped to a slim 16 12 first-quarter lead but explod ed for 23 points the second quar ter as the Eagles could gather only 8. The Balers hit 55 percent of their field goal attempts to help build their 39-20 halftime lead. The Eagles will not be in action quarter with new fire to out score Atkinson 12-9 but the Balers went on to win in the fi nal quarter. Atkinson never did cool off, hitting a 50 percent average on field goals for the entire game. Huston led the Atkinson attack with 25 points—20 of which came during their torrid first half. He received help from Dunn and Small, who added 14 and 13, re spectively. Alton was O’Neill’s hustler as he led the Eagles with 15 points besides doing a good job re bounding. Conarro and Strong also showed great improvement in their floor play and added nine and eight points, respective ly. Atkinson reserves beat the O’ Neill reserves, 43-17. The Eagles will be in action until January 4 when they meet Burwell here.
