Celia News Millie Ernst went to her home in Miltonvale, Kans., Wednesday, November 24, with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson of O’Neill, who went there for their daughter, who is attending school in Miltonvale. Leon Hendricks went to Milton vale early Saturday morning to bring her back. They returned Sunday afternoon. Markita Hendricks spent Sun day with Vivian Thurlow. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hendricks and 3on and “Grandpa” Blow and Duane Waldrop were Sunday dinner guests at the Omer Poynts home. The Clarence Johnson home sear Stuart was the scene of a family Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. They left early Sat urday morning for their home in Kansas. Over $40 was cleared at the pie sale. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Lauridsen and sons, Jim Lauridsen and Charles Johnson were Thanksgiv ing dinner guests at the Louie Lauridsen home. , Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pease were Thanksgiving dinner guests at the William Spann home. Duane Waldrop enlisted in the navy on Monday, November 22, and ex pects to leave for service on De cember 27. Gerald Heiser spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Duane Beck. The teacher of district 246, Mrs. Emil Colfack, and pupils presented a Thanksgiving pro gram Wednesday afternoon, No vember 24. All patrons of the district were present. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hendricks end son, Jim, went to Freeman, S.D., Friday. Nina Hendricks spent the day with her aunt, Mrs. Bob Reiser, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Colfack and family spent Thanksgiving day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Colfack. In the after noon Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Don aldson of Lakeview, la., and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Gorden of Man son, la., arrived for a visit with relatives. They returned to Iowa on Saturday. The pupils and teacher of De loit school had their Thanksgiv ing dinner at the school on Wed nesday, November 24. Mrs. Etta Shriner and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Timm and Ronnie were Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold William son and family at Stuart. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dawes and son of Ravenna spent last week at the Owen Parkinson home in O’Neill. EftEKSSCiiH) Murman Cuts Eagle Cage Squad to 24 The O’Neill high Eagles open their 1954-’55 basketball season against St. Mary’s academy PYi day night, December 3. The squad has been cut to 24, but still no definite starting line has been named. Darold Strong, one of the returning lettermen, quit school, leaving four letter men but no regulars from last year’s squad. The Eagles lack height and experience but have average speed. Duane Alton and Bob Sanders, both lettermen, are the tall boys at six feet even. Ed Gatz and Dick Gaskill are the other two returning lettermen. Pressing for a starting berth from last year’s reserve squad are Frank Fetrow, Larry Strong and Larry Conarro. Other squad members are: Jim Johnson. Vernon Passieux, Bob Porter, Gordon Fox, Merle Jones, Ken McKim, Skip McKenny, Richard Shelhamer, Marvin Young, Robert Young, Wayne Paker, Bill Davidson, Leroy Ly ons, Bobby McClellan, Larry Feterson, Larry Porter and Ber nard Lorenz.
