and air force enlistees announc

Rex L. Horner of O’Neill. Horner
has reenlisted. He recently re
turned from eight months spent
in Germany. Malloy and Taylor
went to Ft. Riley, Kans., while
Horner was eligible for special
assignment. He was given a post
as ROTC instructor in an Omaha
high school. His wife, the former
Margaret Hickey, and their chil
dren moved last week from O -
Neill to Omaha.

Penney Co. Authorizes
Specie! Payment—
J. C. Penney company, na
tionwide department siore or
ganization with a store at O’Neill,
announced this week that its di
rectors have authorized a special
year-end payment for more than
50,000 associates in the company’s
1,633 stores, offices and ware
nouses throughout the United
States.
The payment will be an
amount equal to two weeks’ pay
for all full-time associates who
have been employed for the full
year 1953, and proportionate
amounts for extra and part-time
associates and those employed
less than a year.
All Penney associates will
share in the payment except
management staff members
whose earnings are determined
largely by the company’s long
standing profit-sharing plan. It
will be made December 15 at
each associate’s December 15
rate of pay.
