All members present.
Meeting called to order by the
chairman.
Minutes of the previous meet
ing were read and approved as
read.
This was the time set for the
Hearing on the Budget for the
fiscal year 7-1-53 to 6-30-54.
There were no complaints or pro
tests. ^
Motion was made by Frickel
seconded by Batenhorst that the
following Resolution be adopted

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John R. Gallagher
Guardian of Helen Simar, incom
petent, duly appoint®d by the
County Court of Holt County,
Nebraska, has filed in the Dis
trict Court of Holt County, Ne
braska, his'petition and applica
tion for license to sell the follow
ing described real estate belong
ing to said incompetent, to-wit-_
Lot 14, in Block 22, in Orig
inal town of O’Neill, Holt
Holt County, Nebraska,
for thfe reason that the cash and
the personal property belonging
to said incompetent, and the in
come from said real estate, are
insufficient -to maintain said in
competent, pay taxes, and to
maintkin said real estate against
depreciation and it is for the
benefit of said incompetent, that
said real estate should be sold
and the proceeds used for the
maintenance and benefit of the
ward, and

courthouse be closed during the
afternoon of August 10 for the
Hav Days parade at Atkinson.
This motion on being_j>ut to a
vote, did not carry, therefore the
courthouse will not be closed at
that time.
Frickel made the following
motion, seconded by Batenhorst:
I move you that Holt County
Board receive and consider bids
of appropriate appraising agen
cies for the purpose of a scientific
reappraisal of all taxable real
property and improvements on
leased land within the County of
Holt and that the Clerk is hereby
directed to advertise for the re
ceiving of such bids by the Coun
ty Board at a Hearing on Aug.
25, 1953 at 1:30 P.M., at which
time the Board shall meet and
further consider the letting of a
contract for the employment of
such appraisers. Motion carried.
Bids that had been received
for painting certain rooms in the
Court House were received. Mo
tion was made by Frickel, second
ed by Sterns, that since Harry F.
Miller had the lowest bid he be
given the job of doing that paint
ing. Motion carried.

the Board protesting the valua
tion placed on WVfe Lot 2 and all
Lot 3, Blk. 24, Original Town of
O’Neill.
Tne supervisors explained to
him that it was too late to do
anything about the matter this
year so he would have to wait
until next year to have the valua
tion adjusted.
RESOLUTION OF ADOPTION
WHEREAS, a proposed county
budget for the fiscal year 7-1-53
to 6-30-54, prepared by the Bud
get Making Authority, was trans
mitted to the County Board on
the 14th day of July, 1953, and
WHEREAS, a summary of
such proposed budget, together
with a notice of public hearing to
be held on the 29th day of July,
1953, was published in the Holt
County Independent, a legal
newspaper, on the 23rd day of
July, 1953, and
WHEREAS, a public hearing
was held, pursuant to said pub
lished notice, on the 29th day of
July, 1953, and
WHEREAS, the action of the
State Board of Equalization has
been had and certified to the
County Clerk,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, by the Board of
County Supervisors of Holt Coun
ty, Nebraska

she will visit for a week at the

ning, August 17, honoring the
birthday anniversaries of the

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bebermss
of Norfolk brought Mrs. Lena
Kirschmier to her home in Ewing
after spending the summer at
Pilger with her daughter, Mrs.
Wolverton, and family. The
Bebernisses left Friday to visit
relatives at Plainview.
James Ruby, who is with the
navy and stationed at Milling
ton, Tenn., is spending a 10-day
leave at the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Everett Ruby. He
was accompanied by Mrs. Ruby,
Marvin and Susan.

gether at the country home of Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Beelaert and family

Mary, who have been guests of

ing, left Friday morning for their
home, accompanied by his fa
ther, M. H. Dierks, who will be
their guest for a few weeks.

Mary and Barbara Jacox, were
guests on Friday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dierks.
Mrs. Lena Kirschmier, who has
spent most of the summer at the
home of her son-in-law and

Wolverton, at Pilger, has return
ed to her home in Ewing.
Mrs. Rex Minshall of Lander,
Wyo., came Tuesday, August 18,
to accompany her mother, Mrs.
May Gemmill, to Lander where
she will make her home with the
Minshall family until next sum
mer, when she plans to return to
Ewing.
