AMELIA—Peter Frahm, who
has been visiting relatives in Ger
many since last spring, returned
to his home here this week.
He had made an extensive tour
of his native land.

ited at the home of his parents,

from Thursday until Monday.
Roy Andersen of Grand Island,

The Womens Society of Chris
tian Service of Amelia took
charge of church services Sunday,
August 3, at Amelia Methodist
church. Mrs. Vern Sageser, Mrs.
Clyde Widman, Mrs. Blake Ott
and Mrs. Etta Ott gave portions
of the subject, entitled “Earth’s
Abundance and Man’s Steward
ship.” Scripture was read by Mrs.
Earnest Johnston. The service was
led by Mrs. Lawrence Barnett
with Mrs. Clyde Widman at the
piano. Rev. L. R. Hansberry con
cluded the service with a dedica
tion of the Lord’s herd project.
The August meeting of the Ame
lia WSCS will be on Wednesday,
August 20, instead of Wednesday,
August 27, as previously an
nounced. The meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Etta Ott.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Oak came
from Lincoln, where they have
been attending summer school,'
on Thursaay, July 31, and spent
the night with Mr. and Mrs. Pete
Engler. They were enroute to
their home in Mullen, where both
will teach this fall.

ited Sunday afternoon, August 3,
at the James Deming home.
Miss Karen Obermire, who has
been visiting her grandmother,
Mrs. Mary Henning in Atkinson,
came home Wednesday, July 30.

turned from their wedding trip in
the Black Hills, S.D., on Wednes
day, July 30.

August Smith Attends
Brother's Funeral. —
August Smith returned Tues
day from Eau Claire, Wise., where
he had gone to attend the funeral
of his brother, Herman, 81, who
died Thursday, July 31. The fu
neral was held Monday. Present
at the funeral were two brothers,
August of O’Neill and Otto of
Eau Claire; sister—Mrs. William
Gloede of Altona, Wise.; two
daughters; nine grandchildren,
and 11 great-grandchildren.
While in Wisconsin Mr. Smith
also visited his childhood home
and visited with relatives and
schoolmates he hadn’t seen in 50
years. Mr. Smith came to Holt
county in 1906.

Pete and Clarence Fritchoff of
Omaha were visitors at the O. A.
Hammerberg home Tuesday
morning, July 29. They had vis
ited Pickstown and Ft. Randall
dam in South Dakota and visited
friends in Butte. They were on
their way to Atkinson to visit
other old time friends. The Fnt
choffs lived in Celia about 39
years ago. Their sister, Alma,
leaves September 8 for Beirut,
Palestine, where she will teach
in a Presbyterian college for a
year.

Lincoln Saturday morning, Aug
