Mr. Durr, who was succeeded last
week by W. J. Nelson as manager
of the Lee store here, has resigned
from the company. He has not
announced his future plans.

of Grand Island arrived Friday,
July 18, and are spending a week
with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clark.
Miss Janet Derickson went to
Grand Island on Monday, July 7,
after spending two weeks in her
home in O’Neill.

Omaha Monday where they are
employed at the Northwetern
Bell Telephone company.
Mrs. Axel Borg and Mrs. Dean
Streeter left Saturday, July 19
for Lincoln where they attended
the American Legion auxiliary
state convention, which was held
Sunday and Monday. They re
turned home Tuesday.

Entries to this contest are open
until July 31, and anyone may
submit his name or the name of a
neighbor to the Holt soil conser
vation district and will be con
sidered in the judging, according
to C. R. (“Bob”) Hill of O’Neill,
unit conservationist.

Misses Mary Alys Dierks and
Jollyn Eacker went to Stuart
Thursday where they are guests
at the Minor Varelek home. On
Saturday they will attend the
wedding of Miss Marilyn Varelek,
a former schoolmate, to James
Hytrek, at St. Boniface Catholic
church. Both young ladies will
be members of the wedding party.
Miss Betty Johnson of O’Neill
was a weekend guest at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Cloyd.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Butler at
tended a reunion of Mrs. Butler’s
family held recently at the park
in Ainsworth. Twenty-five mem
bers of the Worden family were
present.

ited Mrs. L. A. Hobbs at Our
Lpdy of Lourdes hospital, Nor

Mr. and Mrs. Allan Knight and
son will move to Hastings on Sat
urday. They will make their
home in Spencer park, a govern
ment housing project. Mr. Knight
will be employed at the Pitts
burgh Plate Glass company and
Mrs. Knight will work at the
naval depot. Mr. Knight has
been employed the past several
months by the Shaw Oil Co., in
Ewing

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eacker
made a business trip to Kansas
City, Mo., on Wednesday, July
16. Enroute they stopped at
Grand Island to visit with
relatives. They arrived in Ewing
Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Archer
went to Norfolk Monday. They
left by plane for St. Louis, Mo.,
where they will be guests at the
home of their son, Ed Archer,
and family. Witnessing the dem
ocratic convention on TV was
one of the pleasures anticipated
by Mr. Archer.
Jackie Kropp is spending the
week at Inman visiting at the
home of his grandmother, Mrs.
Anna Young.
Mr. and Mrs. George Jefferies
and Bonnie Jo spent Friday at
Park Center.
Mrs. Wilma Daniels and child
ren were O’Neill visitors on Fri
day. ,

The Golden Gleaners 4-H club
met at the home of Ruby Carl
on Wednesday, July 16, from 2
until 5 o’clock. Seven members
were present. After the business
session the girls worked on their
luncheon and tea towel sets. A
period of recreation in outdoor
games and refreshments served
by Mrs. Josephine Elston brought
the meeting to a close. The next
meeting will be held July 30 at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Noffje, jr.
Miss Vaulda Welke came home
Wednesday, July 16, from Wayne
where she had been the guest
of friends.

Devotions were lead by. Mrs.
Emil Olday who also enter
tained the group with hymns of
the alphabet ana a quiz program.
Following a short business
meeting Mrs. Orin Graff, who is
moving to Forreston, 111., was sur
prised with a shower of farewell
gifts from members of the so
ciety.
Lunch of ice cream, cake and
coffee was served by the hos
tesses, Mrs. Stanley Cobb, Mrs.
Wilbur Moon and Mrs. Orin
Graff.
