JUNE 8-9 The First Time A Good Laugh for the Entire Family Added Shorts - ----- Advantages of a Drive-In: Mrs. Alice Tullis, of Lincoln, a former resident of the Mineola neighborhood, arrived in O’Neill last Thursday, accompanied by her son, Byron, his wife and three children. They came for (memorial day exercises. Mrs. Tullis was a resident of the Mineola commu nity over 50 years ago and lived in Lynch for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Bartley Brennan and family went to Norfolk Thursday, May 29, and spent the night with Miss Miriam Richard son. They spent memorial day in Norfolk, returning home Friday evening. H. F. Plank, of Spearfish, S.D., came Wednesday, May 28, and was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Clauson until Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Neil Dawes and family spent memorial weekend with Mr. Dawes’s mother, Mrs. A. E. Dawes, at Osceola, and with Mrs. Dawes’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Swan, at Lincoln. Mrs. Dawes and children stayed with her parents while Mr. Dawes at tended the Methodist church con ference in Grand Island. Mrs. Rodney Tomlinson and son, Larry, spent the weekend in O’Neill. Mrs. Tomlinson expects to move to O’Neill in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. D. D. DeBolt went to Scottsbluff Saturday morning, May 31, where they visited Mr. DeBot’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. DeBolt, and other relatives. They returned Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bmmet Crabb and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dorance Crabb and family spent memorial day in Wagner, S.D., visiting rela tives. They returned the same day. On Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Crabb went to Wagner and will spend several days there with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. DeBacker and son, Dan, who is spending a 25-day leave with his parents, will go to Denver, Colo., on Tues day, June 10. From Denver, Dan will go to his base in San Diego, Calif. Simon Bosn and family spent Saturday, May 31, in Winner, S.D., visiting Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blom strom and family. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Doerning at tended the Lions club convention in Norfolk on Sunday and Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivan went to Niobrara Sunday evening where they attended a fish fry at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Gallagher._ . ' i Mrs. Delia Ernst and Mrs. Mary Vitt were Sunday dinner guests at the John Vitt home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Perry re turned Saturday,_May 31, from a visit with their daughter and son in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Zack Schaf fer, and little grandson, Ronald Zack, in Mobridge, S.D. Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Rundall and Mrs. (N. R. Rundall, of Columbus, accompanied by Mrs. Ellen Gib bons, of Elmhurst, 111., were me morial day dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson. Mrs. Gibbons remained in O’Neill for a longer visit with her daughter, Mrs. Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Jaimes Boyle and family drove to Petersburg, Sun day and spent the day at the Harry Hamilton home. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Medcalf entertained a group of friends at a picnic supper Monday evening. The guests included Mr. and Mrs Dean Jeffrey and family and Mr. and Mrs. William Kramer and family. Following the picnic the group went fishing. Dr. and Mrs. Steven Wallace and family, of Omaha, spent the weekend with Dr. Wallace’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J- Wallace. Mrs. Mary Zastrow went to Valentine Sunday where she vis ited her uncle, Alex O’Keefe. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wilson, of West Point, were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Stuessi. On Sunday both families went fishing at Long Pine. Mr and Mrs. Robert Barnes and family, of Omaha; Miss Lau ra Oetter, of Butte; Mrs. Fern Ritts, Mrs. Cora Wilkenson and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Wilken son and family were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth Oetter and family at Chambers. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Waller and family spent memorial day and the weekend with Mr- and Mrs. Ray Snell in Page. Garry remained with the Snells for a two weeks visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Miller and Lois, Mr. and Mrs. George Oetter and Georgenne enjoyed a 6 o’clock dinner at the Town House Friday evening in observance of Mrs. Miller’s birthday anniver sary. Mrs. Seth Noble went to Plankington, S.D., Friday, May 3t), to spend decoration day with friends, Mr. and Mrs. August Stinfeldt. She returned home'on Tuesday. Mrs. Marie McDonald went to Omaha Tuesday night to be with her son, Jack, who received his bachelor of science degree at Creighton university on Wednes day. Mrs. A1 Fritton went to Omaha Wednesday to attend the gradu ation exercises at St. Catherine’s school of nursing. Her daughter, Marilyn, was a member of the graduation class. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Brady, jr., and family returned Friday, May 30, from a vacation trip which took them to Mexico, California, Oregon, Idaho and other places of interest. Mr. and Mrs. George Whitney, of Ainsworth, had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Gillespie dec oration day. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Smith and Donna Jean, of Alma, were week end guests of Mrs. Mary Vitt and Mrs. Delia Ernst. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wieseler and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Becker, of St. Helena, and John Stevens, of HartingtOn, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Becker on Thursday, May 29, and attended the St. Mary’s grad uation exercises Thursday morn ing at St. Patrick’s Catholic church. Donovan Becker was a member of the class. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Donovan and family spent the weekend in Greeley visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Coenen and family went to Lexington on Thursday, May 29, where they visited at toe home of Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Jensen. They also vis ited in Maxwell with Mr. and Mrs. William Ross and at Goth enberg with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross. Miss Mary Ann remained in Lexington for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Brinkman and family returned on Sunday from a vacation trip on the West coast. They visited relatives in Washington, Oregon and Califor nia. Mr. ana Mrs. a. w. uarron ana daughter, Marilyn, will go to Lincoln Saturday to get their son, Robert, who has been at tending boys’ state. Miss Lorraine Simonson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mc Kinley Simonson, arrived home Saturday, May 31, from St. Ma ry college, Xavier, Kans. Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Sherbahn spent memorial weekend in Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Shrock and son left Sunday for Kimball, S. D., after two weeks visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Shelhamer,* Mrs- Elby Washecheck and Carlyle. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Jenkins, of Hastings, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gil bert Strong and family. A houseguest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Skulbor stad is Mrs. O. J. Hillestad, of Nassau, Minn. She arrived Sat urday, May 31, and plans to spend a week at the Skulborstad home, after which Mr. and Mrs. Skulborstad will go on a vaca tion to Minnesota. They will take Mrs. Hillestad to her home. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stearns and family, of Wood River, spent the weekend in O’Neill visiting relatives. Mrs. Dorothy Socha and fam ily and Joseph Sobotka and son, Joe, jr, went to Primrose to spend memorial day with rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Reddick, of Wood Lake, spent memorial day at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Soukup. Mr. and Mrs. John H- McCar ville and family went to Ells worth, Minn., Monday, where Mrs. McCarville will spend a week visiting relatives. Mr. Mc Carville returned to O’Neill on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Berg strom and daughters, of Elgin, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sum mers, of Bartlett, were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Summers. Joe Sobotkafc jr., who is em ployed by the telephone compa ny, is working in Rushville this week. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Klingler, of Phoenix, Ariz., arrived Wed nesday and will visit friends and relatives in O’Neill. Mr and Mrs. Ted Hieter left Tuesday, May 27, for Leadville, Colo., where they will make their home. Miss Carolyn Van Every, of Grand Island, is spending a two weeks vacation with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Van Every. Mr. and Mrs. William Bucks returned to their home in Chica go, 111., on Sunday, May 25, after spending a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Urban Henry Sanders, of Butte, spent Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29. with his cousin, Mrs. John Underwood, and family. They all attended the graduation exercises in Atkinson. Mr. Sand er’s daughter, Joan, was a mem ber of the class. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kaiser, Esther and Ivanf, accompanied by Evalyn Asher, drove to Fair fax, S.D-, Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Majek and daughters, Marie Ann and Josephine Mae. In the evening they all drove to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Deuker for a visit. Amelia Bride-Elects Shower Honorees — AMELIA—Miss Ardene Ander sen, R.N., of Lincoln, and Miss Phyllis Watson, of Amelia, were honor guests at a double prenup tial shower Sunday, June 1, at the hall in Amelia. The bride-elects were seated at the front of the hall hnder para sols decorated in the bride’s cho the front of the hall under para green. The program consisting of a I short skit, portraying their 50th wedding anniversaries, was pre sented. Connie Gilman and Nan cy Watson represented Phyllis Watson and husband and Colleen Kennedy and Janice Prewitt, rep resented Ardene and husband. Manv gifts were received by each Phyllis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Watson, will be married June 15 to Bob Blackmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Blackmore, of Amelia. Ardene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Andersen, of Amelia, will be married in July to Bert Newkirk, of Lincoln.
