bers, sr., remained in Valentine
for a two weeks visit.

went to Hornick, la., on Saturday,
April 5, where they visited at the
home of Mr. Carroll’s parents.

weekend at the Clark home, Mr.

moted to sergeant. He is an in

Dwayne Cavanaugh, who left
Monday evening for Las Vegas,
Nev. Guests included Pfc. Mar
vin Cavanaugh, of Columbus, O.,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Perry and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice
Cavanaugh, jr., and family and
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuhfahl.
Bar X Club
Admits Member —
The Bar X project club met on
Thursday, April 3, with Mrs.
Loyal Hull. All members but
one were present and a guest,
Mrs. Marion Woidneck, who
joined at this meeting.
The lesson on “How to Make a
Corsage’ was given by Mrs. E. H.
Chace. The hostess conducted a
guessing game and prizes were
won by Mrs. Marion Woidneck
and Mrs. E. H. Chace.
The husbands attended this
meeting and cards were played.
High score was won by Mr. and
Mrs. George Syfie, jr., and low
score to Arthur O’Neill and Mrs.
Francis Wabs.
Sandwiches, cake and coffee
were served at the close of the
meeting. The next meeting will
be held April 29 at the Francis

The Golden Rule extension
club met Tuesday, April 8, with
Mrs. Lorenz Nissen. Fourteen
members and two guests were
present. Secret pals were reveal
ed and gifts exchanged. A short
business meeting was called to
order by the president, Mrs. Ivan
Heiss. The lesson, “Hand Mend
ing,” was given by Mrs. R. V.
Crumly and Mrs. Robert Nissen.
The group participated in sing
ing and games, led by Mrs. Ray
Snell. A lunch was served by the
hostess. The next meeting will be
with Mrs. Robert Nissen on May
13.
The Friendship Rebekah lodge,
of Page, entertained 20 members
of the Arbutus lodge, of Inmafi,
at the regular meeting Tuesday,
April 8. Entertainment after the
lodge meeting was baton twirling
by Sherry Stewart, Wanda Ste
vens. Linda Smith and Connie
Riege; a duet by Mrs. Soren Sor
ensen, jr., and Mrs. Leo Neu
bauer. The lunch was served by
a committee. Table decorations
were in keeping with Easter.
The King’s Daughters met
Wendesday, April 9, at the home
of Mrs .Bill Sorensen with Mrs.
Bill Fink as cohoStess. The de
votions were led by Mrs. Robert
Nissen and Mrs. Lorenz Nissen
gave the lesson. There were 24
present. The next meeting will be
May 6 with Mrs. Don Nissen.
The Page extension club met
with Mrs. Emma Dorr Tuesday
afternoon, April 8, for a regular
April meeting, with 12 members
and two guests present. The
guests were Mrs. Melvin Lama
son and Mrs. J. I. Gray. In the
absence of the president, Mrs.
Merwyn French, the meeting
was conducted by the vice-presi
dent, Mrs. Elmer Trowbridge. It
was voted that the club donate
three dollars to the Red Cross
fund. Mrs. Melvin Smith and
Mrs. George Clasey presented the
second half of the lesson on
mending, which was “Hand
Mending,” this time demonstrat
ing the different kinds of stitches
to use and various pointers on
the use of blending thread, study
of the weave and fabric and
patching with mending tape .Mrs.
John Lamason was in charge of
the games and music. For enter- I
tainment games of “matchbox
top” and “going to Ireland” were
enjoyed by all. Several songs
were sung, the last of which was
appropriate to the approaching
Easter season, “Christ Is Risen.”
Mrs. Dorr served a lunch.
Miss LaVonne Albright, a
grade teacher in the Mapleton,
la., school, spent from Friday
until Monday with her mother,
Mrs. Gailord Albright.
Mr. and Mrs. Gus Heese and
son were recent visitors in the
Sam Vollerson home at Belden.

erated the cafe at Page from Fri
day until Sunday night during
the absence of Mr. and Mrs. Ver
non Parks, who accompanied the
Page seniors on their sneak day.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Asher and
sons, of Fremont, spent Saturday
night at the home of Mrs. Asher’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie
Snell. They spent Sunday and
Sunday night at the home of Mr,
Asher’s mother, Mr. and Mrs.
George Park. Other dinner and
supper guests at the Park home
Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Stewart and family. Mrs. Viola

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gray, of

day. She had spent a few weeks
there visiting her son and wife,
Mr. and Mrs. Gray visited rela
tives at Page and Brunswick.
Miss Louise Kennedy who at
tends college at Lincoln, visited
Thursday at the home of her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Sorensen. Mrs. Sor
ensen, Connie and Jimmie ac
companied her to Ainsworth to
the home of their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. M. Kennedy. Mr. Sor
ensen spent Sunday at Ainsworth
and his family returned home
with him.
Sgt. and Mrs. Lyle Davis spent
Sunday night at the home of the
former’s brother-in-law and sis
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Singleton,
and family. On Monday Mrs.
Singleton accompanied her
brother and wife to Chadron
where they visited at the home
of another brother, Mr. and Mrs.
Francis Davis, and son. This is
the first time the two brothers
and sister had all been together
in 15 years. They returned to
Page Friday evening and after
supper Sergeant Davis and wife
returned to Scribner where Mrs.
Davis makes her home. Sergeant
Davis had recently returned
home from Korea and will report
to Camp Carson, Colo., for fur
ther assignment.

children, of Bloomfield, spent

games followed by a Dutch lunch.

April 9, with Mrs. Anton Nissen
with 11 members present. Mrs.

joined at this meeting. Mrs. Neil
Asher and Mrs. Edgar Wood had
