Now Full Colonel
INMAN — Mr. and Mrs. Ira
Watson have received word that
their son-in-law, Clifford R. Op
per, who is statoined at Keesler
air force base at Biloxi, Miss.,
and is a member of General
Powell’s staff, has been recently
promoted to a full colonel.
Colonel Opper has been in the
service 13 years. He is married,
his wife being the former Miss
Patricia Ann Watson, and they
have one daughter, Susan Louise.

went to Ainsworth Sunday to
visit in the home of Dr. and Mrs.
J. M. Jessen.
Mrs. Merle Carr returned to
her home at Hornick, la., Satur
day after spending a few days in
the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lee Conger, sr.
The Women’s Society of RLDS
church held a regular meeting at
the home of Mrs. Marjual Ferris
Wednesday, January 31, with
eight members and three visitors
present. They finished the lesson
on “Happier Homes.” Lunch was
served by the hostess.
The Adult Fellowship met at
the home of Murl Keyes Thurs
day evening. Karl Keyes con
ducted a school of parliamentary
instruction.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Oberle ar
rived Friday morning from Sco
bey, Mont., for a visit in the
i home of Mr. and Mrs. R. B.
1 South. Mrs. South is Mrs. Ober
I 10's mother.
The WSCS met with Mrs. Her
bert Nielsen on Thursday after
noon. Devotions and lesson were
j conducted by Mrs. L. R. Tomp
kins, vice-president. The business
meeting followed, in charge of
the president, Elsie Krueger,

at the home of Mrs. L. R. Tomp

Mrs. Orlow Colwell at Spencer
Monday afternoon.
Hadden Geary has returned
from Beatrice where he was
called by the death of an aunt.
Gordon Sholes, who is employ
ed at Gordon, spent the weekend
visiting relatives and friends.
Dentha Smith, who attends
college in Norfolk, spent the
weekend visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Smith.
Arbutus Rebekah lodge, of In
man, met in special session Wed
nesday evening, January 31, at
the IOOF hall for initiation.
Members of Eden Rebekah lodge
41, of O’Neill, were guests, about
20 coming to Inman, and the de
gree of Rebekah was conferred
by the Arbutus Rebekah lodge
317. The candidates were Mrs.
Patricia Robeson, Mrs. Geraldine
Strong, of O’Neill, and Mrs.
Muriel Luben and Mrs. Helen
Van Horn, of Inman. Refresh
ments were served to 60 at the
close of the evening.

STUART — Charley ("Bud”)
| Moses was injured Thursday
morning when he fell through
the ceding of the Weichman Im
plement company building.
Mr. Moses, an employee
of the company, and Carl Weich
man were thawing out some fro
zen water pipes with a blow
torch. Mr. Moses accidently
stepped between the joints and
fell to the cement floor.
He was taken to the Stuart
hospital. Attendants said he re
ceived a broken collar bone and
bruises and is suffering from
shock.

Win Benefit Tilt
LYNCH — A march of dimes
benefit basketball game was play
ed in the Lynch gym Tuesday
evening, January 30.
The Lynch town team beat the
high school eagles, 42-34. Leo
Kalkowski was high point man
for the Eagles with 11 and Bob
Maly next with 9. Elmer Black
bird was high point man for the
town team with 20 points and
Emil Koval with 8.
The junior high chose up sides
and played. The black beat the
orange, 17-14. Kenny Stewart
coached the blacks and Bud
Spelts the orange.
Mrs. Floyd Gettert and infant
daughter, Linda Arlene, of At
kinson, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn Gettert for six days.
They returned home Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Harley and
Sheryl Jo, cf Atkinson, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Percy M. Anderson
Sunday afternoon.
