Charles Winkler had the mis
forune to almost sever the index
finger on his left hand a week
ago Monday, while unloading fuel
barrels on his place 20 miles east
of ONedll. He was taken to the
Orchard hospital and on Monday
of this week his finger had to be
omputated. He is getting along
as well as could be expected.
I* O. M. 3-c Gilbert Fox, son of
Mr and Mrs. Charles Fox, is now
on his way to Singapore and the
Gulf of Persia, according to word
received here by his parents.

ney spent Friday visiting at the
Homer Lowery home in O’Neill.

from a stiff neck this week.
A stork shower was held at
the home of Mrs. Leonard Fox on
Thursday afternoon in honor of
Mrs. George Brainard. Several
games were played and prizes
won by Mrs. June Luben and
Mrs. Grant Peacock. A delicious1

Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Herstedt,
daughter, Mintra, and son, Horry,
of North Plaitte, arrived Saturday
to visit ot the Paul Roth home.
Mrs. Herstedt and Mrs. Roth will
take Mintra HerStodt back to her
work in Denver.

A seven pound baby boy was
born Thursday, March 28, to Mr.

Mr. and Mrs Bernard Mosel, of
Orchard, are the proud parents
of a baby boy, bom to them on
March 17. He has been named
Robert Ix’Roy. Mrs. Mosel was
formally Esther Lehmann.
R. E. Childers, who is a patient
in ithe Veterans hospital at Lin
coln, is reported improving. Mr.
and Mrs. Childers were side
swiped by a car while visiting rel
atives near McCook, Nebr., a
short time ago. At the time of
the accident it was thought that
no one wJbs hurt but the after
effects proved serious and Mr.
Childers was taken to the Veter
ans hospital at Lincoln.

spent Friday afternoon in Cham
