Miss Davene Loy had a Christ mas program and supper at the Schaffer district school Wednes day evening. The Misses Jo Ann and Marion Nevenswander, of Superior, ar rived the fore part of the week to spend New Year’s with their father, A. B. Nevenswander. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Beckwith ’ and family were dinner guests at the Vera Hickman home Christ mas day. Sgt. Carl Luben left Saturday for Alaska, after spending his i furlough at the home of his par ents. Mr. and Mrs. William Luben Miss Ilene Tenborg, of Omaha, arrived at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Tenborg Christmas morning. She return ed to Omaha Sunday. Quite a few of the young boys around Emmet have taken their physical examination for the army during the last three weeks. Quite a number of the young folks around Emmet enjoyed a skating party at Pat’s Lake Sun day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Babl held open house for their son, Cpl. Gahart Babl on Tuesday even ing of last week. About sixty rel atives and friends were present.
