Soft Ball Players Are
Again (retting Busy
St. Mary’s Academy soft ball
team defeated the team from
O’Neill High last Sunday after
noon, by a score of 7-4. St. Mary’s
took an early lead, and Brown’s
home run was the only threat made
by O’Neill in the early innings.
Hammond, pitching for St. Mary’s,
received effective support and the
seventh was his only bad inning,
O'Neill scoring two runs and leav
ing two on base.
Ryan, pitching for O’Neill, had a
large number of strike outs, but
received poor support, especially
in the early innings, which put
him behind, and which O’Neill was
never able to overcome. Hickey’s
home run was the only hit yielded
in the late innings.
St. Mary’s team will play St.
Joseph’s of Atkinson here on Wed
nesday afternoon, and have an
other game scheduled for O’Neill,
the date of which will be announced
later.
