The Weather
The rain man has been very liber
al with the people of this section
of Nebraska the past week, for iti
that time we have had 1.44 inches
of precipitation, rain falling every
day but one in the past week. The
precipitation was general over most
of the state, bu£' northeast Ne
braska seemed the most favored,
as rainfall in this section was
greater than in other parts of the
state.
Last night, Wednesday, we had a
little shower here, but north of the
’ city they had better than half an
inch, according to John Schmidt
who lives northeast of this city.
Following is the chart for the past
week:

Lewis Loses Out
In his bid for a place as a
political boss, John L. Lewis went
down to defeat in the Pennsylvania
primary and with him went a lot
of the prestige of James A. Farley,
postmaster general and boss of the
democratic political machine. Their
favored candidate for governor was
slaughtered by the Pennsylvania
voters. The election brought en
couragement to the republicans as
they cast about 200,000 more votes
in the primary than the democrats
and all defeated republican candi
dates have pledged their support
to the successful candidates. Looks
as if the break has started.
