BRIEFLY STATED Miss Ruth Harris can**1 up from Siuox City where she is attending Morningside College, and spent Saturday and Sunday visiting at the home of her mother. She re turned to her school duties Sunday afternoon. Mrs. D. C. O’Connor and Miss Margaret, and the formers son, Patrick, arrived here last Friday night and spent Saturday visiting friends and looking after business matters, leaving for their home at Eden Valley, Minn., Sunday. The O’Neill high school bootball team won another victory last Thursday afternoon when they downed the team from Neligh high school with a score of 13 to 0. The local high school team is getting quite a reputation as gridiron in vincibles. John Dumpert returned last Sat urday from Grand Island, where he had been in a hospital for the past month recovering from an oper ation he submitted to about three weeks ago. John says that he is feeling fine and expects that with in a very short time he will be back on the job. Mr. and Mrs. William Barnard and children, and Sam Barnard, of Casper, Wyo., arrived last Thurs day afternoon for a short visit with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Barnard left for home Monday, while Sam Barnard will make his home for the winter with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Yantzi. Mrs. Larry Colman and her mother, Mrs. M. J. Enright, and her brother, Donald Enright, ac companied by Mrs. Tom Enright, drove to Norfolk Wednesday where ___j Mrs. Colman will enter a hospital for a majrflr operation. Mrs. Tom Enright will visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Semlak. for a few days. Mildred Chaney has filed suit in the district court asking for a decree of divorce from Clarence E. Chaney and the restoration of her maiden name, Mildred Estes. In her petition she alleges that they were married at Burke, S. D., on Octo ber 2, 1933. She alleges that she has been a resident of this county . for twenty-two years, while th» V defendant is now a resident of California. She says that he de serted her on or about June 29, 1934, and has never contributed to her support and that she had been compelled to make her own living. There are no children.
