BRIEFLY STATED Surveyors have been busy for sev eral days past surveying highway 281 from O'Neill south four miles to con nect with the oiled road. We under stand that this will be graded and oiled this fall, being included in the state’s program of highway improve ment. On complaint of O. W. Sanders, For rest Hopkins, of Ewing, was arrested last week charged with having as saulted Hopkins on or about July 11. Hopkins appeared in county court last Tuesday morning, plead guilty and was fined $10 and costs, a total of 415.30. The state is asking for bids for grading and sand graveling the high way from Atkinson to Stuart. Bids on this project will be opened at Lin coln on August 10, 1933, and it is the Intention of the state highway depart ment to have this work completed this fall. Rev. H. D. Johnson and sons, Ralph and Virgil, and Francis Soukup, Har old Jones and Hugh J. McKenna left Tuesday morning for Chicago where they will put in ten days at the Ex position. Rev. Johnson is assistant Scout Master of the local council of Boy Scouts and all the boys going on ■the trip are Scouts. Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Carter and their daughters, Mrs. Vance Begthol, of Kearney, and Mrs. Vera Blum and daughter, of Sheridan, Wyoming, left last Sunday morning for Chicago where they will spend a couple of weeks visiting at the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Smith, and incidently taking in the Exposition. ECONOMY LEAGUE MEETING The Holt County Economy League will meet at O’Neill on Saturday, July 29th at 2:00 p. m. The minimum wage paid to all skilled labor employed on this con tract shall be sixty (60) cents per hour.
