    BRIEFLY STATED
Surveyors have been busy for sev
eral days past surveying highway 281
from O'Neill south four miles to con
nect with the oiled road. We under
stand that this will be graded and
oiled this fall, being included in the
state’s program of highway improve
ment.
On complaint of O. W. Sanders, For
rest Hopkins, of Ewing, was arrested
last week charged with having as
saulted Hopkins on or about July 11.
Hopkins appeared in county court last
Tuesday morning, plead guilty and
was fined $10 and costs, a total of
415.30.
The state is asking for bids for
grading and sand graveling the high
way from Atkinson to Stuart. Bids
on this project will be opened at Lin
coln on August 10, 1933, and it is the
Intention of the state highway depart
ment to have this work completed
this fall.
Rev. H. D. Johnson and sons, Ralph
and Virgil, and Francis Soukup, Har
old Jones and Hugh J. McKenna left
Tuesday morning for Chicago where
they will put in ten days at the Ex
position. Rev. Johnson is assistant
Scout Master of the local council of
Boy Scouts and all the boys going on
■the trip are Scouts.
Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Carter and their
daughters, Mrs. Vance Begthol, of
Kearney, and Mrs. Vera Blum and
daughter, of Sheridan, Wyoming, left
last Sunday morning for Chicago
where they will spend a couple of
weeks visiting at the home of their
daughter and sister, Mrs. Smith, and
incidently taking in the Exposition.

bers present. Minutes of previous
meeting were read and on motion were
approved as read.
The f ollowing Resolution was pre
sented and read at this meeting:
I move that the County Treasur
er i>e instructed to create in his office
a fund to be known as the Salary
Fund and that he be, and he hereby
is. instructed to place in and credit
to said fund all fees paid over to the
County by all County officers, in
cluding himself, from this date
henceforth regardless of when earne
henceforth, ( regardless of when
earned..
I further move that all salary
warrants for County Officers be
drawn against this said fund and
that the Treasurer pay the same
from said fund upon presentment.

Holt County Board of Supervisors
met as per adjournment. All mem
bers present. Meeting called to order
by Chairman.
Board again took up the application
of Ralph Shald for License to operate
Rural Dance Hall in Stuart Precinct
and also the remonstrance which was
filed, protesting against the issuance
of same. The remonstrance not stat
ing any cause of complaint and no re
montrators appearing in person, it was
moved by James, seconded by Carson
that a license be granted Ralph Shald
to operate a Rural Dance Hall in
Stuart Precinct. Carried.

coln, Nebraska, on August 10, 1933,
until 9:00 o'clock A. M., and at that
time publicly opened and read for
GRADING, SAND GRAVEL SUR
FACING and incidental work on the
STUART-ATKINSON NATIONAL
RECOVERY HIGHWAY PROJECT
NO NRH 158-B, Federal Aid Road.
The proposed work consists of con
structing 9.5 miles of GRAVELED
ROAD.
The approximate quantities are:

tion.
18,300 C. Yds. Top Soil or Sand
Clay Surface Course
31,100 C. Y, Mi. Hauling Top Soil
or Sand Clay Surface Course Material.

The attention of bidders is directed
to the Special Provisions covering sub
letting or assigning the contract and
to the use of Domestic Materials.
The minimum wage paid to all
skilled labor employed on this con
tract shall be sixty (60) cents per
hour.
The minimum wage paid to all un
skilled labor employed on this con
tract shall be forty (40) cents per
hour.
Plans and specifications for the
work may be seen and information
secured at the office of the County
Clerk at O’Neill, Nebraska, at the
office of the District Engineer of the
Department of Roads and Irrigation
at Ainsworth, Nebraska, or at the
office of the Department of Roads and
Irrigation at Lincoln, Nebraska.
The successful bidder will be re
quired to furnish bond in an amount
equal to 100 per cent of his contract.
As an evidence of good faith in
submitting a proposal for this work,
the bidder must file, with his proposal
a certified check made payable to the
Department of Roads and Irrigation
and in an amount not less than Fif
teen Hundred (1,500) Dollars.
The right is reserved to waive all
technicalities and reject any or all bids.

All persons interested in the estate
of Jeannette S. Riggs, deceased, both
creditors and heirs, are notified that
on June 30, 1933, Altai Caulum filed
a petition in the County Court of Holt
county, Nebraska, alleging that Jean
nette S. Riggs, a resident of Wood
bury county, Iowa, died intestate on
April 29. 1926, and at the time of her
death was the owner of the following
real estate situted in Holt county,

and decree their degree of kinship to
Jeannette S. Riggs and determine the
right of descent of the real property
