You have read about the flying fish
and the barking ducks, but right now
Eugene E. Clark, rural carrier on
Route No. 1 out of Inman, reports
several set-toos with a fighting pheas
ant. These game birds are becoming
quite numerous in this section and
while it is against the law to kill
them considerable difficulty is being
experienced and the United States
mail is being delayed on the account
of the fighting ability of one certain
male pheasant who persisted in oc
cupying all the road and at numer
ous times Gene is compiled to detour
in order to keep from running over
the bird. Drastic measures are being
formed and the matter will be brought
to the attention of the federal gov
ernment to see if some relief can be
secured to prevent the mails from be
ing delayed.
