Our Victorious Army Will Soon Come Marching Home
American valor and the determined perseverance and pluck of our allies have brought victory to our arms. The enemy has given up, conquered,
and when the peace treaty is signed its terms will be so stringent that it will be impossible ever agin for one man to thrust the world into the horrors of
war. Our young men went “over there” to assist in making this world safe and free for all peoples and right royally have they performed their duty.
From every one of our allies comes stories of the heroism of th6 American boys and one of old Holt’s native sons, Bugler Chauncy W. Porter, of Chambers,
son of E. F. Porter, County Clerk Elect, has been given the distinguished service cross for extraordinary heroism in battle. When America entered the
conflict there never was any question as to the outcome, but we are all happy that it is over, and that our boys will soon come marching home.
While we have not been serving our country in the same manner as the boys over there we have been doing our share in this country to make
the world safe for democracy. We have been helping the people to bear the burdens of war by giving them the best clothing value for their money that it
