The enemy has given up, conquered, and when the peace treaty is signed its terms will be so stringent that it will be impossible ever agin for one man to thrust the world into the horrors of war. Our young men went “over there” to assist in making this world safe and free for all peoples and right royally have they performed their duty. From every one of our allies comes stories of the heroism of th6 American boys and one of old Holt’s native sons, Bugler Chauncy W. Porter, of Chambers, son of E. F. Porter, County Clerk Elect, has been given the distinguished service cross for extraordinary heroism in battle. When America entered the conflict there never was any question as to the outcome, but we are all happy that it is over, and that our boys will soon come marching home. While we have not been serving our country in the same manner as the boys over there we have been doing our share in this country to make the world safe for democracy. We have been helping the people to bear the burdens of war by giving them the best clothing value for their money that it has been possible to buy. We are pioneers in the ready-to-wear clothing line and have given you the finest value for your money that has ever been offered the people of this section of the state, and the latest in styles and fabrics. This has been possible because we have handled the clothes made by the old reliable firm of HAET SCSAmTEE dz One of the best known and most reliable clothing manufacturers, not only in America but in the world, When we began hancjlipg this popular line of clothing ready made clothes were not very well thought of by well dressed men, and generally speaking they didn’t deserve to be., We began talking quality and good style and handling nothing but what possessed these requisites. We told you that'we were selling the kind of clothes that a gentleman could wear, that in material, the tailoring, the fashions, he could be confident of being right, of getting value for his money and satisfaction. ... The all wool standard has been rigidly maintained in our goods. Men don’t “look down” on ready-made clothes as they once did. The large majority of men today wear ready-made clothes because they want to wear them and they are among the best dressed men in the country. We can fit you in style and quality and respectfully ask that you look our stock over, knowing full well that we can please you as we do hundreds of others who are now regular patrons of our clothing department, and they are the best dressed men in this section of the state. Many young men were expecting to be called into the service at most any time, and that our Uncle Sam would furnish you with your uniform and overcoat; but now with the cancellation of the call and the prospect that you will not be needed fh the service, you no doubt will need winter clothing and there is no better place to supply your wants than at our store. As to style and smartness of lines McManus’ clothing is right up-to-the-minute, without going to extremes. You will find our clothing in the best company, worn by men who are known to dress well. If you have not before tried our clothing, come in and buy a suit and you will ever after patronize our clothing department. J. ]VCc3VE^ISrXT3 TIb-e Home of (Good -L/fercbLoro-dlse
