From our Liucoln Correspondent.— Towards the close of the first week In December Governor Shallenberger, no doubt with the thoughts of Christ mas cheer in his mind, distributed an other package to the faithful of the state. Among those named in the list of appointments given out on Thurs day last were the following, each with the value of the prize awarded: Deputy Labor Commissioner—Will M. Maupin, Lincoln; salary, *1,500 per year. Deputy Oil Inspector, Second Dis trict—T. J. O’Connor Omaha; salary, *1,200 per year. Chief Game Warden—Dan Geilus, Omaha; salary,*1,800 per year. State Veterinarian—Dr. Paul Juck ness, South Omaha; salary, *1,800 per year. Colonels on the Governor’s Staff— Sophus Neble, Omaha; Thomas Byrne, Omaha; E. W. Bennett, Omaha; P. C. II... .. part of his duties the collection of agricultural statistics throughout the state, which has made his department of unusual value to the farming in terests. The new labor commissioner, W. Ii. Maupin, has announced pri vatetly to friends that he expects to make his bureau more distinctly labor bureau and will give a larger atten tion than heretofore to the matters of interest to union labor organizations and their members. He will not dis card the farm statistics section, but it is understood from this that it is to receive a briefer consideration than has heretofore been given it. Thoroughness the Keynote to Success The last theatrical season has wit nessed the failure of more female stars, the wrecking of more theatrical or ganizations than any in the history of the modern stage. The great major ity of these organizations that have gone to the wall are repertoire corn companies and the secret of it all is —not the money panic—but the rot ten plays. One company that has weathered the storm and prospered, increased its stock in trade and made good where thousands failed is the Ohase-Lister Theatre Company, to be seen here three nights commencing Thursday, Dec. 17th. Their secret of success, where others failed Is and has been modern, clean and successful productions and a high priced com petent company of actors.
