part of his duties the collection of
agricultural statistics throughout the
state, which has made his department
of unusual value to the farming in
terests. The new labor commissioner,
W. Ii. Maupin, has announced pri
vatetly to friends that he expects to
make his bureau more distinctly labor
bureau and will give a larger atten
tion than heretofore to the matters of
interest to union labor organizations
and their members. He will not dis
card the farm statistics section, but it
is understood from this that it is
to receive a briefer consideration than
has heretofore been given it.
Thoroughness the Keynote to
Success
The last theatrical season has wit
nessed the failure of more female stars,
the wrecking of more theatrical or
ganizations than any in the history of
the modern stage. The great major
ity of these organizations that have
gone to the wall are repertoire corn
companies and the secret of it all is
—not the money panic—but the rot
ten plays. One company that has
weathered the storm and prospered,
increased its stock in trade and made
good where thousands failed is the
Ohase-Lister Theatre Company, to be
seen here three nights commencing
Thursday, Dec. 17th. Their secret of
success, where others failed Is and
has been modern, clean and successful
productions and a high priced com
petent company of actors. Big
matinee Saturday of “Cinderella.”
