Two years ago R, J. Warren, a drug
gist at Pleasant Brook, N. If., bought a
small supply of Chamberlain’s Cough
remedy. He sums up the result as
follows: “At that time the goods were
unknown In this section; today Cham
berlain's Cough remedy is a household
world.” It is the same in hundreds of
communities. Where ever the good
qualities of Chamberlain’s Cough rem
edy become known the people will have
nothing else. For sale by P. C. Corrigan.
Exchange: A newepaper man in Ohio
recently brought euit against forty
three men who would not pay their
eubecriptione and obtained a judgment
in each case for the amount of each
claim. Of theae twenty-eight made
affidavit that they owned no more than
the law allows thus preventing attach
ment. Then under decision of the
supreme court they were arrested for
petit larceny and bound oyer in the sum
of 98,000 each. All but six gave bond,
six went to jail. The new postal law
makes it larceny to take a paper and
refuse to pay for it.
Some thing to Know.
It may be worth something to know
that the very best medicine for restoring
the tired and nervous system to a healthy
vigor is Electric Bitters. This medicine
is purely vegetable, acta by giving tone
to the nerve centres in the stomach,
gently stimulates the liver and kidneys
and aids the orarkns in throwing off im
purities in the blood. Electric Bitters
improves the appetite, aids digestion
and is pronounced by those who have
tried it as the very best blood purifier
and nerve tonic. Try it. Sold for 60c
or tl per bottle at Corrigan's.
The following true story is going the
rounds: A preacher recently inter
viewed an editor -who had written and
published an article which was, to say
the least, highly colored. The former
laid down the law in no mild terms to
the editor. He eaid: “You editore
dare not tell the truth. If you did you
could not live, and your paper would be
a failure." The editor repUM: “You
are right, and the minister who will at
ail times and under all circumstancee
tell tbe whole troth about his members,
dead or alive, will not occupy his pulpit
more than one Sunday, and then he will
find it necessary to leave town in a
hurry. The pulpit and press go hand
in hand with tbe whitewash brushes
and pleasant words, covering up defects
and magnifying little virtues. The
pulpit, the presa and the gravestone ate
the great saint-making triumvirate.”
The minister went away looking very
thoughtful, while the editor turned to
his work and told about the surpassing
beauty of the bride, when, in fact, she
was as homely as a mud fence.

One of the (pedal features of the May
number of that always up-to-date fash
ion magazine, the Standard Designer, is
a three-page article upon commence
ment and graduation dresses and access
ories, which will prove of the greatest
value to the young ladies or little misses
who are preparing tor either event.
This article is profusely illustrated in
the most charming style, and enters
into every detail. The bride in antici
pation will also find much to interest
her in this number for some especially
dainty lingerie is pictured and described,
and if she is desirous of making her
own trimmings she will find directions
for hand-made laces on other pages.
The busy housewife will probably be
more attracted by the space devoted to
bints on the nursery, costumes for small
boys, house-cleaning and cookery ; while
the lover of outdoor exercise 'will appre
ciate the floriculture and bicycle news.
These brief notes give but a limited
idea of the contents of the book, for in
addition to what has already been
spoken of there are fashione for ladies,
misses and children designed and pic
tured in the most artistic manner;
millinery is made exceedingly attractive
in black and white and colors, and the
literature, poetry, etc. are of an unusu-r
ally high order. In fact we find much
to commend and nothing to decry iu the
preeent issue.

Baptist church at Riyes Junction she
was brought kown with pneumonia suc
