Wo have had enses in our criminal
court the last few months that prove
this practlco to bo very dangerous, and
that, too, Is largely due to slackness
with which parents look aftor their
children. Thoro were cases in which
young girls of fifteen wero allowed to
bo out with young mon a great deal
older than themselves till two or
threo o'clock in tho morning with tho
parents exercising no concern what
ever. If tho parent falls to do their
duty by tho children whnt chanco oa
earth has tho child got. Tho destiny
of tho avcrngo child Is marked out in
tho homo life, bo let tho father and
mother beware. Whon the curfew
sounds all children around tho ages
of 12 to 17 ought to bo at homo in
place of on tho streets unless they arc
accompanied by their parents or have
a mighty good excuse.
These cases will receive tho atten
tion of tho board of public welfare and
ought to bo supported by every, one
vho Is interested in boys and girls.

Obituary.
Sldnoy Ephrlam Tlmmorman was
born In Jefferson county, N. Y., on
tho 2d day of March, 1847, and depart
cd this life at tho homo of his daugh
ter, Mrs. Earl Payne, on Sunday morn
ing, August 31, 1919, at tho ago of 72
years, 5 months and 29 days. Mr
Tlmmorman had been suck but two
daya beforo his death.
When about 18 years of ago, he en
listed as a member of Co. 8, 9th 111
cavalry and served for eighteen months
of tho civil war. Ho was a mcmbor of
Old Abo Post No. G3, G. A. It., of Su
perior. Nebraska.
Oa May 4th, 1871, ho was united In
marrlago to Sarah Catherine Shuck to
which union was born five children,
but two of whom aro living today.
Those who mourn his loss, besides his
many friends, nro his wife, ono son,
Albert E. Tlmmorman and one
daughter, Mrs. E. B. Payne, both of
this city, and ono ndopted daughter,
Mrs. Gcorgle Gilbert, of Stella, Neb.
For tho past twelve years Mr. Tim
merman was a faithful member of tho
Lutheran church. Th3 funeral ser
vlco was hold at tho Epjlscopal church
on Wednesday Inst, his pastor, Bov. C:
Franklin Koch, officiating. Inter
ment was mndo In tho cemetery at
Superior, Nebraska.
