One of the big social gatherings
Thanksgiving was at the homo of Mr.
and Mrs. J. .1. Crawford, when they en
tertained nineteen guests who live In
Cozad, and in addition tlio Davis, Ar
nold,, Gilbert und Knowlcs families
of this city. The out-of-town guests
arrived on the early morning train
und wcro conveyel to the, .homo of the l
host and hostess in automobiles. All I
of the guests, as well as the host and I
hostess wcro at one tlmo residents of
Cozad, and It was like a big family
gathering. At 12:30 the party was
taken to the Hltnor Cafe where a four.
course dinner was ecrveu. mo af
ternoon was spent in auto riding, sight
scolng and other amusements, Lunch
eon was served at G:30 and the even
ing was spent nt the Christian church
services. Tlio Cozad parties loft for
homo on No. 4 that night after having
spent a very enjoyable day.
CITY AND COUNTY NEWS
Will Explain Drainage Proposition.
L. T. Jessup, government engineer,
who Is making an investigation of the
proposed dralnago ditch which would
extend from the OTallon bluff to a
point cast of this city, spent Saturday
In town. Mr. Jessup is soon to launch
a campaign of education in behalf of
tlio ditch, and was hero to learn the
sentiment of some of our citizens. It
Is proposed through this 'ditch to take
caro of the Hood waters which llow In
to the city from the west nearly every
year. North Platto is therefore Inter
ested In the ditch and would neces
sarily need pay for tlio benefit re
ceived. A meeting of the Chamber of Com
morco will shortly bo called and at
this meeting Mr. Jessup will explain
the proposition, tlio approximate cost,
and tlio benefits to bo derived by North
Platte.
