They ask Judg ment for tho principal and Interest, together with costs of tho action. Rev. B. A. Cram, of the Metholist church, left yesterday morning for Kearney to attend the union revival meetings which are being held at that place by Evangelists Lowry and Moody. They aro holding tabernaclo meetings and much attention is being attracted to them from the towns about. A representative of tho Redpath Horner bureau spent yest' rday in town with a view of securing a contract for a chautauqua next year,. It Is pro posed to put in a seven-day program next year and the bureau asks that the sale of G50 season tickets at $2.50 each bo guaranteed. Clarence Vroman, against whom a warrant was issued Wednesday on tho charge of assaulting W. E. Shuman on the streets, plead guilty before Judge Grant yesterday and was fined ten dollars and costs. The assault grew out of a controversy over tho collection of a bill which had been placed in Mr. Schuman's hands. Dr. C. C. Wallingford, of Geneva, Nebr., arrived In the city yesterday and he will open up a practice here. Ho has looked over the field and de cided that it was a good one. Dr-. Walllngsford Is of the eclectic school and has been practicing in Geneva for the past several years. SoldlorN Funeral Will he Held This Afternoon. Tho funeral of Edward Gllborg, tho discharged soldier who died In Jail Monday night, will be held this after noon at 2 o'clock under tho auspices of tho United Spanish War Veterans and members of the G. A. R. Rev,. C. D. Harnian of tho Lutheran church will have charge of tho funeral and tho re mains will be Interred in tho local cemetery Inquiry was sent to Washington Tue&day morning regarding Gilberg nnd It was learned that he had been In tho service for over twenty years and that he was retired. Ho saw ser vice in tho Philipines nnd was honor ably discharged on account of disabil ity. It was also learned that a brother Neal II. Gilberg, was located at Cam bridge, Mas., and that is the only rola tlvo known in this country. Tho bro ther was notified and ho advised bur ial here. Gilberg served In Company M, Fif teenth United States Infantry. Ho was located at Fort McDowell, Calif., at the time of his discharge which was Sept. 8th, last. At that time ho was paid over three hundred dollars, but Indications would tend to show that ho was prob ably drugged and robbed. Ho was a little past forty-four years of age. At tho timo of his discharge ho was given a record of good character. Tho cause of his death was discovered upon post mortem examination to bo ncuto hemorrhagic pancreatitis. Tho French war office claims that substantial progress" Is being made In tho north, where an attack in force by tho Germans has been re pulsed at several points. It is denied that tho Germans have made any gains at Verdun and it is insisted at every point the allies find tho situation sat isfactory. The British warships arc driving the Germans back from northern Franco and tho Belgian coast and the French Held guns' with tho Belgian forces aro clcarlrrg tho Belgian fron tier, Reports coming from Portugal say that a royal revolution has broken out In Lisbon. The war office reports that the gen eral situation in Russian-Poland and Galicia is excellent nnd that tho Rus sians everywhere are on the offensive, hut denies that the battle has entered a decisive stage,. A Pekln report says that the Japan ese and British lmve sustained heavy losses int he Kaio Chou district. The Russian government is said to have with drawn all of her force from Man churia and Liberia for action against the Germans and Austrlnns. Tho Gorman war office declares that tho advance towards Dunkirk contin ues and while severe fighting Is In progress on tho Germnn right wing, tho battle haB no nppearance of hav ing entered a dccislvo stage. In Ga ll' ia it is stated that the Austrlana de feated the Russians with heavy 1ob3. Tho combined bombardment of Cnt- ter.o from land and sea continues and several Austrian forts arc reported badly damaged. Tho military export of a leading Ber lin paper estimates tho losses of tho French, tho British, the Russians and the Belgians in killed, wounded and prisoners at least 750,000 men. For Sale.
