Tho formal oxerclaea to celebrate the
opening of the new Jefferson school
building will bo held Thursday afternoon
and evening In the building. Tho exer
cises will consist of a program by the
children and addresses by soma of the t
faculty and members of the board and
a reception in the oven ing.
At 1:30 Thursday afternoon the
children's program wili bo given by
the Jefferson pupils. After this the
pupils will be dismissed and the remain
der of the afternoon will be given oyer
to tho older people and a number of
addresses will be given. E. T. Tramp,
president of the board ot education,
Bert M. Reynolds, architect, and Super
intendent Wilson Tout will all give ad
dresses. In the evening a reception is to be
given and everybody is invited. The
teachers jn the building compose
the entertainment committee and an
elaborate celebration has been planned.
Music for the occassion will bo fur
nished by the high school orchestra and
glee club. The building will be lighted
up and open to the inspection of every
one. Democrats Attention.
A mass convention of the democratic
electors of the city of North Platte, is
hereby called to meet at tho court
houso in North Platte, on Friday,
March 20, at 8 o'clock p m., for the
purpose of nominating four candidates
for councimen and two candidates for
members of tho Board of Edncation, to
be voted on at the city election April 7,
1914.
The electors of the respective wards
will meet in caucus, separately, to
select their candidates, and will present
the same to tho convention for ratifica
tion. J. IS. McDonald, Chairman,
R. E. Cochran, Secretary.

Very interesting opening exercises
were held yesterday morninir at the
high school chapel hour. The progratxu
consisted or soiections oy tnu iiign
school orchestra and singing of school
songs. The orchestra has procured
orchestrations of some of the hicrh
'school songs and play them for the
opening exercises, lho singing of the
songs by the school with the orchestra
accompanying adds greatly.to tho inter
est in tho exercises.
