southeast of Sutherland, burned to the
ground Tuesday evening. L. S.

O. H. Tholecko spent Wednesday at
Bignell putting in a mile and a quarter!
of road and states that the greater part
of the work is being donated by the.
residents who thus demonstrate their
public spirit and desire for tho hotter-j

Members of the Baptist missionary
society hold an enthusiastic meeting
at the church last evening, tho atten
dance being very large. Each mem
ber brought in a dollar and told in
rhyme how sho had earned it At the
close of the meeting refreshments
were served.
Tho proposed now road between
Brody and Gothenburg is now assured.
Lincoln county will build one mite,
Dawson county one mile, and tho re
mainder will be constructed with funds
donated by the (peoplo of Gothenburg,
Vroman and Brady. Tho road will bo
constructed under the supervision of a
government good roads, expert.
Whilo driving across tho railroad
tracks on the crossing south of tho stock
yards Monday evening with a load of
coal, Fred Gardner was struck by No.
14, which was traveling about forty
five miles an hour. He was pitched
forward into the road about twelve feet
from the track and received a small gash
in the back of the head, some fractured
ribs' and a badly wrenched back. Tho
wagon was broken into kindling wood,
and strewn along the track together
with tho coal for about a quarter of a
mile. The horses wore uninjured and
broke loose with tho front running gear
and ran to the Ilinklcy farm on tho
south side where they were caught.
