Whilo driving across tho railroad tracks on the crossing south of tho stock yards Monday evening with a load of coal, Fred Gardner was struck by No. 14, which was traveling about forty five miles an hour. He was pitched forward into the road about twelve feet from the track and received a small gash in the back of the head, some fractured ribs' and a badly wrenched back. Tho wagon was broken into kindling wood, and strewn along the track together with tho coal for about a quarter of a mile.
