Tho local lodge of Elks last night took initiatory steps toward the erection of a building at the corner of Fourth and Dewoy streets when the committee, previously nppointcd, was authorized to accept plans and doviso ways and means for the completion of the structure. Sketches submitted by Architect ShafTer, and in the mnin approved by the committee as well as tho lodge, calls for a building GOxCG feet, three stories. Tho ground floor will be used for business purposes, either with two rooms 33xG6 each, or one room 66x66. On tho second floor provisions nro mado for a banquet room 20x46, a billard room 24x46 and a good sized reading room and other necessary adjuncts. Tho lodgo room, 32x45 feet in dimen sions, will be located on tho third floor, which will also contain a reception room, ante rooms and wardrobes. By tho middlo of this week arrange ments will havo been completed where by North Platte will havo a second hospital. The large brick residence owned by W. M. Cunningham, situated in the cast part of tho city, will be converted for-such use and purposes, and Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham will as sume tho management. Tho building has already been fitted with an operat ing room with all tbe necessary .equip ment and thero will be eight rooms for patients, which have also been furnished in a neat manner for the reception of patients. This privnto hospital will bo open to tho reception of patients and all ropu- l.sble physicians, whether they nro resi dents of the city or else where, will have full contract of tho patients taken and no favoritism will be shown any parti physician, the object being to treat all fairly. A competent nurse has already been employed and is now assisting in gett ing the new institution in readiness for tho reception of the patients. N Elks Elect Officers.
