Orle Brower, formerly with the

well puts It: "They could not get
along very long without a good call-boy."
Fireman K. E. Robinson of the
west-end passenger, layed off for
three days during the past week and
secured the first good rest he has
had for some time. He reported as
O. K. for work again on Tuesday
morning.
Those Baptist women have finally
succeeded in securing the biggest
thing in the way of entertainment
that Alliance ever had. Opera House
Nov. 14th all for 25c and 50c.
I. D. Pederson, formerly night en
gine dispatcher at the round house,
was seen on Alliance Btreets Satur
day. He had come In from the ranch
with a team after a load of supplies.
He says he is feeling just as good as
he looks, which must be rather good.
F. D. Wormwood has resigned his
position as electrician a tthe round
house here, and departed last Sunday
for Lincoln where he will accept a
similar position. Mr. Wormwood in
formed us that he had worked stead
ily for the "Q" for the lust eight
years.
Engineer "Keed" Young has re
turned to Alliance after a few weeks
spent on the high line. H's coming

Frank Pellergrinni. extra gang
foreman of Arvada, spent Sunday in
Alliance visiting friends. Pellegrinni
is one of five brothers, all of whom
worked for the Burlington and who
held jobs of extra gang foreman.
Some of the mare now in Italy, serv
ing in the Italian army perhaps now
on their way to Berlin as prisoners
of war. captured during the recent
big drive.
Boilermaker Dick Thurston, who
has been employed in that capacity
at Seneca for about three years, has
resigned his position and disposed of
his personal belongings with the
exception of his wife and although
be is still undecided as to where his
next field of adventure will be, we
are surehe will be successful. Dick
was In Alliance on Monday of this
week looking things over with a view
of locating here.
Railroad employees who would be
pleased to see a good column of 'f ail
road News in this paper should take
advantage of every opportunity to
see that The Herald office Has a
chance to get the news. With a little
co-operation and willingness on the
part of a few who can give us this
news matter we can devote a great
deal of space to this department and
will do so gladly. If you are in

Firemen Whitley has layed off for
several days on account of urgent
business up town that needed his im
mediate attention.
Engineer George Milliken's turn
was tilled last week by the oldest
man, Henry Reunau. George Reid
then stepped up and took Mr. Ren
nau's regular turn on No. 44, east
end. and it is not definitely known '
as yet Just who will get Reid's turn i
on the west end. This move was j
caused by the fact that Mr. Milliken
had been off for a period of 90 days
without reporting for work accord
ing to the schedule.
Engineer R. E. Spencer went to
Antioch yesterday where he took his
regularly assigned turn on the An
tioch switch engine. He replaced
Engineer Sitzman, who was holding
the turn as an extra man.
Fireman Salisbury went to Craw
ford Hill yesterday to relieve Mont
gomery, who was brough to Alliance
for service from this point.
A. N. Thompson, who can easily
qualify for most any old position
at the round house, and who has
worked at most of the Jobs, Is now
assigned as night electrician, in place
of George Cadman. He was formerly
night engine Inspector, and before
that a handyman, and previous to
that time had been a hoBtler and
previous to that oh, we don't know
what.
