Be It ordained by the Mayor and
City Council of the City of Alliance,
Nebraska.
Sec. 1. Thai the word garbage as

refuse, animal or vegetable niat'"r.

and vehicles used for the COllttlOB
of garbage and ashes within the city
shall be so constructed that none of
the contents thereof will be permit
ted to drop from, or blow out o f
such wagons, and such tarts and
wagons shall be thoroughly cleaned,
and the driver.- and owner- thereof
shall be under t.he supervision of the
health commissioner
Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of
the owners of every building within
the city of Alliance, and of the a
gent having control of the same or
being in charge of the same, to
furnish at least two close and se
cure metallic vessel, or brick o r
stone rooms or bins as recepta
for garbage and ashes, the smaller of
said receptacles to be used exclus
ly for refuse animal and egetable
matter and the larger of said
receptacles is to be used exclusively
for ashes, tin cans, and other non
decaying garbage, and if. shall be the
duty of such owners or agent and al
so for every tenant within the City,

the City Council of the City of Alli

SECTION I. That the grades on
Platte Avenue In the City of Alli
ance, Nebraska, shall be, and the
same are hereby established in refer
ence to the established datum plane.

The petition presented h the

extend the curb line on Box Butte
Ave. in front of the Central school
was rejected because the extension
would bring the curb line directly
over the water main so chat it
would be impossible to reach the
water main without interfering with
the i urb line aud parkway and such
a change would leave an irregular
curb lin.
Councilman Stern offered the fo
owing resolution, to amend his reso
lution of July 2nd. and moved its
adoption :

Whereas. The revenues from the

The Misses Evelyn and Marguer
ite Montgomery of Denver, nieces of

arrived last Friday to spend the last
month of their summer vacation vis

C. W. Ray left Alliance last Friday
night for Omaha, where he went to
work. Mrs. Ray had preceded him
to that city. We understand that
it is their Intention to make their
home in the Nebraska metropolis.
Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Romig left Sat
uniay noon for Chicago. Mr. Romig
went on business there and Mrs.
Romig accompanied him for a visit
with friends in that city.

Will G. Comstock, president of
Richards and Comstock. was in Alli
ance on business several days with
in the last week. The companies
with which Mr. Comstock is connect
ed have done a large part in the
development of this part of Nebras
ka, especially in promoting the cattle
raising industry, and he has done
his full share in the good work. He
and the others connected with their
business are well liked by Mie people
of this part of Nebraska, tibmestead
ers, ranchmen and business men.

Messrs. J. H. Biddle, Sugden, Cum-
roy, Watson and Wheeler, all of
Spade, were in Alliance the first of
the week on a contest case, but as
the case was dismissed they did not
have occasion to participate in it.

next door to E. W. Ray's plumbing
shop, as soon as the machinery,

rives. Supt. W. R. Pate and family left
on the early train yesterday mom

they took the train for Andrews in
Sioux county, where they went to
spend a two weeks' vacation. They
will camp out. and spend the time
fishing and hunting, and otherwise

There was a slight mistake in our
article last week regarding Dr. Claud
Lester going to Colorado with Fox S.(

Friday. He has been visiting his
brother at Hemingford for the past
week or" two. He and L. Romer,
Hemingford's accomplished first base
in tut. called at The Herald office to
give the paper a friendly rounding up
