BROUGHT IN WATER PUPPY
Curious Aquatic Quadruped Attracts
Attention
1-jtst Friday morning N. A. Krenek
and R. Malek brought to The Her

a gloss jar, whichwas caught in an
artificial pond, fed by a windmill,

of Alliance. It Is what le common

It was quite a curiosity to those
who had never seen one before, but
we are Informed that they abound
in the larger lakes In the sandhill
country. As water puppies are nev

when they were only about an inch
in length. He thinks the first one
brought to the pond may have been
carried by a duck. They perhaps
have some way of traveling or be
ing transported as yet undiscovered,

Ben. A. Brewwter of the Chadron

the reception recently given Nebras
ka editors by the Omaha Commercial
Club. Frank A. Kennedy, editor of
the Western Laborer, pays Brother
Brewster the following compliment
in the issue of his paper of July 13:
Among the corn fed editors of the
short grass country that were here
Monday was Benjamin A. Brew-ster
of Chadron. He publishes the Chad
ron Chronicle and la piling on flesh
and stacking up a bank account. It
looks strange to see these old t':ne
union printers come into Omaha a 'h
their round red. sunburned chc:ks
and real long green money in their
clothes. They came down to see
Samson and never fall to scatter the
coin around. We knew Ben. Brew
ster way back in the hard times of
the nineties. He was an active mem
ber of the Omaha Typographical un
ion and both he an his father were
falrhful members of old one-ntn
Ben's friends in Omaha are delighted
to see him make good and prosper
In Chadron because we know he de
serves it. He is a candidate for
state senator on the democratic tick
et and if he makes the arrangements
at the other end we will see that
tbJaf whole membership of the typo
graphical union will come up to vote
ror him. We don'.; kniw ir there
arel any union men in the Chadron
country but If so we urge them to
stick to Bea. Brewster because he
has a great deal of faith in unionism
bred Jn his bones and blood.
