The classes in gymnasium, dress
making, millinery, hygiene and first
aid are growing in popularity. They
are meeting a real need in bringing
to the young women the things they

The L. E. W. board Is to be com
mended for the gieat success of the
dinner of February 27 and for the
spirit which prompted the effort. The
association appreciates the donation
of $15 on the Victrola.
The Boosters' progressive luncheon
was quite a unique affair. All present
seemed to enjoy themselves. A splen
did program was rendered. The se
lection by Miss Freita Shaw of Port
land, Ore., was quite a treat and met
with hearty applause.

servatory of Music in a song recital

THE I). D. S. CLUB
1 he D. D. S. had a very interesting
meeting Saturday at the home of Mr.
Weldon Solomon. One of the import
ant features of the program for the
evening was a debate on the question,
"Resolved, that a Negro Y. M. C. A.
is more advantageous thun a similar
organization." Both the negative and
the affirmative put forth good afgu
ments which so successfully counter
acted each other that the debate was
decided a tie. Future activities wen5
also discussed, among them being a
proposed debate with Lincoln Literary
Society.

The Phi Delta girls held their an
nual domestic science meeting at tile
home of Mrs. Wade Green, 2803 Ohio
street, Wednesday evening, March 0.
A delightful luncheon was prepared.
Each mpmber cooked and served a
part of the menu. During the evening
musical numbers were furnished by
several of the club members. The
next meeting will be held at the home
of Miss Merriam Gordon, 3116 Corby,
March 23.
MBS. LAWRIE THANKS PUBLIC
Mrs. Lawrie wishes to thank every
one who donated anti helped to serve
the dinner at the “Y” Sunday, March
13. Sh. wishes to announce that this
dinner and the one three weeks ago
was given to pay off the indebtedness
for which she was responsible, from
the charity ball that was given some
| time ago for the benefit of the Old
Folks’ Home. She wishes to announce
that from the first dinner there was
j enough realized to pay all the ex
penses except for the band and print
i ing. From the last dinner enough was
cleared to pay the band’s charges, and
now all that remains to be paid from
the affair is the printer’s bill.
THE MOTHER’S CLUB
The Mother's club will meet Friday,
March 18, at the Y. W. C. A. A pro
gram will be rendered. Mrs. Rayford
and Mrs. Atrison are hostesses. The
dub cleaied $35.07 from the George
Washington entertainment. Three do!

The monthly social held at the resi
dence of Mrs. C. H. Hicks Tuesday
evening was an exceptionally pleasant
affair, socially and otherwise. About
seventy-five were present. The pro
gram was very entertaining and of a
high order and was as follows: Vio

and Mrs. James A. Clarke; Kead'ng,

There is a pleasant rivalry between
Miss Addie Thomas, president of the
Christian Endeavor Society, and Mrs.
James A. Clarke, president of the La
dies’ Aid Society. Both are very am
bitious and are doing excellent work
in their departmetns.
