President Harding lo Visit Birmingham. President Harding Is to vlalt Birming ham. Als.. some time In the fall, th occasion, being it Is understood, th cere monies due to th 60th year since th establishment of that great industrial center. Tho president will have an ex ceedingly Interesting experience.. He may gain Information which will rertnlnlv b of interest and mav be of value which . relates to the potential possibilities which are In the Musrle Shoala. He goes to Birmingham, however, at an opportune moment because in that district some of the first improvements In Industry were) noted and reports of them were received in this city. Had the president gone in June he would have found Industry less prosperous than It was In July. In fact the ncreas in business in juiy wns nt least 60 per cent over the June business. whereas th September business Is likely to exceed thnt of June by at least 159 per cent. Other nations are making In quiries respecting Birmingham products and some of thorn have sent orders. On important order came from India re cently and the Indications sre thnt an other In soon to com Trom isew leaisna. So also, an Improvement In the orders from som of the American industries is rennrtod and It Is probable that Presi dent Harding may find Industry at Bir mingham speeded up to Its capacity. If he stops at Atlanta, as his Itinerary s now arranged for him to do. he will get further proof of th revival of industry In th south. Son Antonio and Pueblo. Only a few weeks passed after the disastrous floods at Pueblo and the ap palling tragedy of the loss or life wnen San Antonio, Tex., experienced a Ilk similar disaster. There is no engineering work csnnble of mastering or controlling the conditions which caused the San An tonio disaster. Th engineer can divert floods to- reservoirs perhaps, but. they cannot prevent cloudburste and It was a true cloudburst carrying an ocean of water uncontrollable which devaated San Antonio. Report com to New York. However. that both San Antonio and Pueblo, a was the case with Galveston some years ago, hav not been dismayed by this traalo exoerlence. th citizens of both cities are. beginning the work of recon struction. They will hav this work completed within another year. They hav relied chiefly npon their own re sources and have been Inspired by 'their own conrage and stimulated by their own energy. The losses in property reacneu many million dollars, out in time tnes lnasea will h mad good. ' It is CSUS . for encouragement and congratulation that at this time when Improvement In bus iness and Industry was just beginning on of th cities of the south and one of th far west have faced disaster , almost unJ paralleled and are with courage and with energy overcoming th losses which were entailed, although, of course, they never can overcome the loss of human life. 120,000,000 in Certificate. Th corporations which bought at vitt and accrued interest a little over 120.000, 000 of railroad equipment trust certificate through the War Finance corporation ex nnct that all these will b speedily and, , gladly absorbed by the investing public.
