The German general headquartera today gave out the follow ing offlolal ststament: "Attempts made by the enemy to re conquer territory, in Terrain to the north anu northeast of Ypres (Belgium) failed. The French and British attacks broke down under the German fire. The num ber of prisoners French, English and Belgium rose to 2,470. The pieces of can non captured up to the present total 35. In addition a large number of muchlne guns and rifles and much ammunition and other war material were taken by the Germans. , "West of the Ypres canal the Germans stormed tha town of Llterne. "In the Champagne region the Germans blasted an enemy trench. Near Eeua Jofferme the French shelled their own trenches with artillery. "Between the Meuse and the Moselle French attacks failed. The enemy, who had entered tha German trenches, were ejected. "In the forest of Le Pretre the Germans msde progress. "In the Vosges there were no war op erations on account of the fog and snow.
