On-sha tennis sharps, representing the
various tennis clubs In the city, last night
at a meeting held at the Omsha Racquet
club decided to hold the Mid. west Tennis
tournament at tha Omaha Field club dur
ing the Utter part of August. The an
nual city tournament will not he held
at the Field club aa has been tha custom
Irj ths past, but will be given cither to
the Happy Hollow, Country club or tha
new Rod and Gun club, thla to bs decided
upon at a mealing to be held In the near
future.
Tha Omaha Tennis league was per
manently organised at the meeting. Thla
la a new departure In Omaha tennis, and
la formed purely for bettering and mak
ing the game mora popular In this city.
It la also hoped that by thla course sev
eral new tennis sharpa will be brought
to the limelight. It was decided to have
from all to eight clubs In tbe league and
each club to hare either four or six play
ers on Its team. Ths number of players
on each team will be decided at a meet
ing to be held next Tuesday night at the
Omaha Racquet club, when the consti
tution will be drawn up and all details
regarding tha leaaroe be discussed. A reg
ular schedule will be adopted, a cer-wln
number of games be played every Sat
urday afternoon. Tbe winning team at
the end of -the season will be presented
with a loving cup.
May- Have ladoar Teaala.
Indoor tennis was discussed pre srd
con at the meeting and it la not unlikely
that it will be adopted. Harry Koch, city
tennis champion, made. a survey of ths
Interior of the Auditorium last Sunday
and reported at ths meeting that two
full eourta could be put In. He said tha
lighting facilities were fins for indoor
tennis. The Auditorium company asked
but a nominal price for the use of tbe
building and SS additional every time the
lights were ' turned on. It was figured
last night that twenty players each par
ing from f to C could play Indoor ten
nis for the next two and one-half months
and thus get In good condition for start
ing the tennla season off this summer In
great shape.
A committee of three was apmlnied
to confer with ths members of tha l-ark
board In an endeavor to induce them to
Install tennis courts in all the city parks.
This, the tennis men claimed, would be a
good start for public play grounds and
would help to produce more tennis plsy
ers in the city.
