TRAFFIC GETTING BACK TO NORMAL
Rock. Ulead Man Saaaests that Big
Had af the Soalhera Mere,
meat Has Passed for
Ike Preseat.
It Is believed that the large movement of
grain from Omaha for the gulf ports is
about ver. No new contracts sre being
mado and the rnilroad lines are trying to
get out of the way the freight that has
been accumulating here as a result of the
rush of the last few weeks. The cars
could not be hauled out of the way fast
enough, and whllo there has been a short
age of ears, there has also been a shortage
of heavy motive power.
Roth tho Missouri Paciliu and the Rock
Island were prepared for an ordinary rush
of business, but tho present situation has
been extraordinary. The normal business
of the southern lines lias been unusually
heavy, and on top of this has come the
frenzied condition which hns kept the grain
Interests stirred up. Tho railroads wero
congested by the unusual pressure put
Upon their enulpment, but the chaos is be
ing stlalshtened out.
I.raln Well t ared For.
"There Is no danger of further trouble
now,-' suid a Rock Island man. ' I think
the excitement In about over. We are get
ting no new business and are confining
ourselves to gelling rid of the cars Unit
have been accumulating on our tracks.
We had more freight than we could move.
It was not alone the lack of cars, but nn
abnormal demand upon our motive power
that put us lu the hole. We have no fur
ther Advices from Chicago regarding
changes In tho situation. The hulk of the
grain has been moved or Is moving, and
there Is no chance now of any serious rate
trouble.
"The gra,ln has been pretty well taken
care of at the gulf and there lias been
less trouble getting ships to take up thu
cargoes than is sometimes the ruse. This
grain Is handled by tramp vessels ami
most of them are chartered through the
brokers. The business Is a hazardous one
and a firm may make or go broke In the
business. When the broker charters a
vessel he taken his chances of having a
cargo for the ship when it arrives. He
has to find a cargo for it or sell his char
ier to some ono else. If there Is no cargo
the ship owners get their money just the
same. Sometimes a ship puts In an ap
pearance long after It Is due, and this nlso
complicates matters. Other ships may ap
pear 011 the Hold and a cut-throat competi
tion for the business results, which is also
ruinous.
Brokers Have Fareil Well.
"With the enormous grain shipments to
the gulf the brokers at New Orleans and
Oulveston have fared pretty well. 1 don't
know of any other part the shipping in
terests have played In this affair. I doubt
if they have played any conspicuous part
In the present grain fight unless a deul
was on with some of these lines to be on
hand when the grain reached the gulf.
These vessels sre not regular liners and
before hiking a cargo to any port they
usually want a reasonable assurance that
thry are going to have a cargo to take
away."
Traffic Offlrlala Journey.
J. C. Stubbs, traffics director; P. C.
Stohr, assistant traffic director, and Joint
A. Munroe. freight traffic manager, of the
I'nlon Pacific, are on the way to Portland.
Mr. Stubbs and , his assistant arrived in
Omaha Monday' evening and were joined
by Mr. Monroe. Only a short slop was
made here. The nature of the visit is not
made known at Union Paclflo headquarters.
It Is believed, .however, that there Is no
special signlilcunce In the trip. It is the
first time the officials have hud a chance
to be together since the appointment of
Mr. Stohr, the former general traffic man
ager of the Great Western. The traffic
men will go over the entire Hurrlman
system. Mr. Munroe will not go farther
than Portland. It is surmised that pinna
nre on foot for Improvements in the traffic
department of the Harrlman lines, but
they may not become known until they
begin to be workfd out.

his private oar. This means that It will
be several days before a general superin

some one lias been decided on continues to
be met with a smile and a shake of the
head at headquarters.

YOU CAN INTEREST HIM
Any Man Over Fifty.
You can Interest any man over fifty years
Of age In anything that will make him feel
better, because while he may not us yet
have any positive organic disease be uu
longer feels the bouyuney snd vigor of
twenty-five nor the freedom from aches
snd pains he enjoyed In earlier years, and
be very naturally examine. with interest
any proposition looking to the Improve
ment and preservation of his health.
He will notice among other things that
the stomach of fifty Is a ery different one
from the stomach he possessed at twenty
five. The greatest care must bo exercised
as to what is eaten and how much of It,
snd even with the best of care, there will
be Increasing digestive weakness with ad
vancing years.
A proposition to perfect or Improve tha
digestion and assimilation of food Is on
which interests not only every man of fifty
but every man, woman or child any ng,
because the whole secret of good health,
good blood, strong nerves, Is to hsve a
stomach which will promptly snd thorough
ly digest wholesome food because blood,
nerves, brain tissue snd every other con
stituent of the body are entirely the pro
duct of digestion, and no medicine or
"health" food can possibly create purs
blood or restore shaky nerves, when a weak
stomach Is replenishing the dally wear and
tear of the body from a mass of ferment
ing half digested food.
No. the stomach Itself wants help snd In
no round-about way, either; It wants direct
unmistakable assistance, such as Is given
by one or two Slunrt's Dyspepsia Tablets
after each meal.
These tablets cure stomach trouble be
cause their use gives the stomach a chance
to rest nnd recuperate, one of Stuart's
Dyspepsia Tablets conttilns digestive ele
ments siifffclent to digest 3,000 grains or
ordinary food such as bread, meat, eggs,
etc.
The plan of dieting Is simply another
name for starvation, nnd the use of pre
pared foods and new fangled break
fast foods simply makes matters worse, sa
any dyspeptic who has tried them knows.
As Dr. Bennett suys, the only reason I
can Imagine why Btuarfs Dyspepsia Tab
lets sre not universally used by everybady
who Is troubled In any way with poor
digestion is because may people seem to
think that because a. medicine is advertised
or sold In drug stores or is protected by a
trade mark must be a humbug, whereas as
a n.atter of truth sny druggist who Is
observant knows that Stuart's Dyspepsia
Tablets have cured more people of indiges
tion, heart burn, heart trouble, nervous
prostration and run-down condition gener
ally than all the patent medicines and
doctors' prescriptions for stomach trouble.
